Projects get going in St. Joseph constituency

The present state of the Carholm feeder road. The road is to be repaired according to Darroux

Parliamentary Representative for St. Joseph, Kelvar Darroux, is encouraging farmers in the constituency to return to their farms since government has embarked on feeder road rehabilitation in the area.

“We know that a lot of farmers have abandoned their farms and government is making a significant investment towards improving these farm access roads and these farmers must show some level of responsibility to go back to their farms,” Darroux stressed.

According to Darroux government is spending a significant amount of money in rehabilitating a number of feeder roads in the constituency. “We are now spending $420,000 in Belles, $115,000.00 on the Cuba Carholm road and in Gwo-Morne area $171,000.00 will be spent,” he pointed out. “This is all in an effort to ensure proper access to the farms. I had to ensure that the farmer’s roads are in a proper state.”

Darroux also revealed that rehabilitation works on the Mero main road, which government spent over $50,000, is nearing completion.

He said several young people from the area are employed on the project and when completed will enhance the overall tourism thrust in Mero.

Darroux also said contracts for the rehabilitation of river walls and the Cemetery Road in St. Joseph have been signed to the tune of $2.2-million.

He identified Offshore Marine as the man the contractor who will then sub contract local contractors in St Joseph.

Work is expected to begin this weekend, according to Darroux.

“Our people have been patient and we are now seeing works being done in this area to ensure that the area can be restored fully,” he said.

Are you not ashame to be making that appeal to farmers? Did you not promisae them during the campaign that you will seek markets for their Agriculturte produce? What went wrong Kelver? You grew up in St. Joe witnessing the farmers at the back of the vans going to their farms every morning, Omega Pierre one of the committed farmers in St Joe, why did you allow persons like him to struggle so long to get to his Farm? One Question you will have to answer Kelver is Why under your watch St. Joe is the poorest community in Dominica? and that is your greatest claim to fame.

There are way too many dope-heads in the village. The bad out-weighs the good in St. Joe. I know, because that’s where I was born and raised.

When is Mr Kelvar Darroux going to travel up the Layou Valley road and organize to have this very important road, for, especially the farmers and trucks to use to get to their farms fixed properly which will probably take a great deal of money to do! If this is not done then working on the feeder roads becomes ridiculous. The rain that is coming over the next 24 hours could totally wipe out the tiny bit of road left to get up the Layou Valley! Please fix the road all the way from the Hillsborough bridge to Ponte Casse it is more important at the moment than feeder roads!!

offshore marine is a company of locals presumably one minister and an offspring from edgehill and associates, there have been an issue surrounding the strange transfer of money to a minister. these companies are setup to over bid and give back to their backers…
every project that happens in dominica is questionable, these ministers have no concscience and the masses blindly support this nonsense and remain poooooooooooooooooooooooooor.
