Salary negotiations between the Public Service Union and government have reached a new stage.
Public officers late Thursday agreed to accept a three percent salary increase offer that government has been proposing, for the year 2009/2010.
Following the meeting of the general membership of the PSU, Thomas Letang, general secretary of the PSU, said government’s offer is being accepted under certain conditions.
Letang said public officers agreed that government should make “reasonable” annual contributions to the PSU health fund, and provide more assistance for its planned preparatory school.
He also said the PSU and government have agreed on several non-salary matters.
Seriously, did civil servants really expect to get more than 3% salary increase? Give me a flippin break people! First of all they have to learn to be more productive and second of all don't pretend like you all did not know all along that Letang was going to accept it. That man is a waste of the air he breathe when it comes to negotiations. Time for Letang to go find something productive to do himself.
thomas is a waste. He knew they were going to accept it all the time. I agree. We need new head of thr union or a new union. Mr. Letang you not seing public officers looseeeee confidence in you. Time up
You think those UNION LEADERS are joking. Celia Nicholas & Thomas Letang they have us!
Ask Challo in Roseau!
Agree with you ! We need new representatives! Celia out! Letang go!
Likely to be too softfy or CROOOOKS
I swill want to know when I am getting my money back from that stabilization levy…
Now with that meagre percentage my questions are: When is this coming into effect? When will the retroactive on that be paid? And how is that meagre amount going to help our families?
3% ? What does PSU think 3 % is? That's only $40 on the salary of a junior clerk at the Ministry. The gov't can do better. Ministers getting 50% increases and we have to settle for 3%? STUPES!!!
We need a new union head … This man as well as Celia Nicholas have both failed to achieve financial and job security for their representatives in the wake of Government's 52% salary increase.
I hope at the next AGMs the hardworking people of Dominica stand up and show their dissatisfaction.
Food prices gone up, cost of living gone up, bus and travel fares gone up, diesel gone up, and work load gone up too but a miser 3% increase is all we can get.
Government has no respect for its workers. Then again that may be the next level!
I knew all you would accept it….with all allyou varie….i knew all you wouldn't have no choice but to accept govt peanuts.
