The 18th VOSH mission of the Rotary Club of Dominica will be in Dominica from January 15 to 22, 2012.
VOSH – Volunteer Optometry Services for Humanity, a non governmental, non sectarian, apolitical organization is dedicated to the provision of eye and vision care services for those who are below the poverty level and without access to local eye care.
The Rotary Club’s VOSH team will provide eye and vision care services next week in Portsmouth, Marigot, St. Joseph, Grand Bay and Goodwill from Monday, January 16.
Persons requiring eye and vision care should proceed to the Portsmouth Hospital on Monday, January 16th from 8:00AM to 4:00PM, Marigot Hospital on Tuesday, January 17 from 8:00AM to 4:00PM, St. Joseph and Grand Bay Health Clinics on Wednesday, January 18 from 8:00AM to 12:00 noon and the Goodwill Parish Hall on Thursday, January 19, from 8:00AM to 4:00PM.
The VOSH Mission will be under the Management of Dr. Dan Wrubel.
President of Dominica, Dr. N. J. O. Liverpool and Mrs. Liverpool are expected to visit the VOSH Mission at the Goodwill Parish Hall on Thursday, January 19.
They will also host a social function for the team on Friday, January 20 which will also be attended by Minister for Health Julius Timothy and other Senior Health Officials.
The Rotary Club of Dominica 18 years ago teamed up with the Rotary Club of Eaton Rapids, Michigan, USA to mount an annual VOSH Mission to Dominica.
On average just over 1,500 people receive complete eye examinations and prescription eye glasses and plano “sun shades” are dispensed each visit.
Concurrently, Rotary will hold a hearing mission in Dominica from Monday, January 16 to January, 19, 2012.
Hearing clinics will be done at the Salybia Health Clinic on Monday 16, the Portsmouth Hospital on Tuesday 17, the Roseau Health Clinic on Wednesday 18 and the La Plane Clinic on Thursday 19.
Persons requiring Eye and Hearing Care must contact their District Nurses and Health Care provider in their locations.
