Minister for Commerce, Enterprise and Small Business Development, Roselyn Paul has applauded participants who graduated from the National Adult Education Programme.

Three hundred participants graduated at a ceremony held at the Arawak House of Culture on Wednesday.

Information revealed that participants recorded a 60 percent pass rate in the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) Examination for 2016.

“It is an occasion to recognize and applaud the ambitious individuals who have taken advantage of the opportunities for a second chance to equip themselves with skills to make them employable, marketable and independent,” Paul said.

She noted that the success for the adult education programme is to be assessed by the impact it has not only on the participants, but “the persons, institutions and communities whom you will now impact.”

“This means that the onus is upon you to do something positive with the knowledge and skills you have acquired to the adult education programme,” she stated. “At the end it will only have the desired maximum impact if it contributes not only to your personal development but to nation building.”
