My granddaughter has been awarded several scholarships so I know how helpful this can be to a family.
This is a generous scholarship and for two years. As my mother would say “It is nothing to sneeze at.”
It could encourage a student in Dominica to get his or her education on the island instead of going abroad.
All I have read about Dominica State College convinces me it is a fine school with an good offering of
educational options for the student. (I’ve received this info from DNO over 3 or 4 years. I have not read any of the college’s own materials.)
I would say to any young person who thinks DSC may be for you apply for this scholarship now. Follow the instructions, and make sure you give them all the information they are asking for. I hope you will do it NOW because there is a deadline.
Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill. Evangelist.
Djamala Fontaine was a noble hero of the national independence struggle as a member of the Popular Independence Committee. He was also a cultural nationalist who promoted our African and indigenous heritage, to include leadership in the production of the French creole dictionary. May we always remember him and those who gave their all to the development of Dominica. Djamala or “Mala” as he was affectionately known hailed from Liberation City, Grandbay.
A generous scholarship. Could be very helpful to a student in Dominica who wants to get their education on the island without going abroad.
Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill. Evangelist.
Would have been great if a short acknowledgement of who Mala was had been given alongside this welcome initiative! Grand Bay folk will know and are justifiably proud of his accomplishments but let’s tell the rest of Dominica and the Diaspora who didn’t know him! Thank you
