Roseau, Dominica –March 2, 2016…The Caribbean Students Organization (CSO) at the Midwestern State University (MWSU) in Wichita Falls Texas has made a donation of US twelve hundred and seventy-eight dollars (US1,278.00) to the Ministry of Education and Human Resource Development.

Assistant Chief Education Officer Dr. Jeffrey Blaize received the funds on behalf of the Ministry and made presentations to the Delices Primary School and the Concord Primary School on Monday.

The funds were raised during the organization’s annual fundraiser, Caribfest, as part of post-Tropical Storm Erika relief efforts. CSO said the funds were intended for schools impacted by the storm or schools in need.

The Caribbean Students Organization was formed at MWSU in 1994 to assist in the recruitment of prospective students from the Caribbean, to facilitate the transition of new students from the Caribbean as well as to promote cultural and academic exchanges between persons of Caribbean and American backgrounds.

About 77 Dominican students are currently attending Midwestern State University and are members of CSO. Dominican, Kyle Gordon currently serves as President of the Caribbean Students Organization.

  1. Nice going here; small as it may be!

We have to come to realize that the Government is at our service–they cannot pull money from their private pockets to do things for us –this resource must come from us, as whatever group we are: $1300.00×10 is $13, 000.00.

The more the donation the higher the ability to build. Not only that! When we know how and where the monies come from, then we can demand explanation, for its lack of fruitfulness–if that is so

Those who are responsible will be called to pay back–there is no other way. We need to stop pressuring the Government while we sit on our backside, doing nothing to contribute.
