Montell Phillip of the Castle Bruce Secondary School (CBSS) is the first place winner in the senior division of the 2015 Florida Caribbean Cruise Association (FCCA) Foundation Children’s Essay Contest.

This year’s theme was “How the cruise industry improved my country?” and Montell’s essay, according to the FCCA “truly exemplifies Caribbean excellence”.

Montell has been awarded a cash scholarship of US $3,000 by the FCCA. Cheque and plaque will be handed over to Montell by the Minister of Tourism Honorable Robert Tonge at a ceremony to be held at the Castle Bruce secondary School on Wednesday October 21, 2015 at 12: 30pm. The Castle Bruce Secondary School will also receive an award of US $3,000 from the FCCA.

Dominica last secured a first place win in the competition in 2007. However, over the past seven years Dominica has secured 2nd and 3rd places in the competition. We wish to congratulate Montell Phillip on his exemplary performance; he has made his parents, his school, and Dominica proud.

DDA wishes to encourage students to participate in all future competition as the FCCA Essay Contest 2015.DDA also appeals to the various Primary & Secondary schools to work with students, motivate them, encourage them to participate, inspire them to aim for excellence as such competitions is motivation for students and simulates tourism awareness
