Child sexual abuse will take the spotlight when children’s rights advocates meet at the Holy Redeemer retreat house in Eggleston Wednesday.
Those present at the consultation, will closely look at the findings of a UNICEF study on child sexual abuse and draw up ways to deal with the problem locally.
“The matter of child abuse is indeed a national issue,” said Martin Anthony, Chief Welfare Officer.
A UNICEF consultant is expected to present the findings of the study.
“We are hoping to get the facts about the existence of child sexual abuse and other aspects of that study, and it is hoped that out of the findings, we would be able to discuss what needs to be done and formulate a national plan of action,” Anthony stated.
Obviously, there are many sincere caring people in Dominica who are ready to tell the devil “Enough is Enough!”
We have the problem of child sexual abuse in my own nation. Because of a difference in the laws and social structures it manifests itself somewhat differently but we are not any better than Dominica. What I say to you I say to all. It is time to declare an all out war on one of the greatest evils of the 21 century. Use every weapon at your disposal.
Congratulations to those who are rallying the troops in Dominica. God is for you. Fight the good fight.
Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill. International Evangelist.
For so long this is going on you people still need to discuss what needs to be done…you must be joking…it’s time to act the discussion phase is long over.
I’m happy that Dominica has now taken the steps to do somthing about child sexual abuse .Imyself as a victim. I’m elated to see that this day has finally come.
