The CIBC FirstCaribbean International Bank has presented a cheque of $3,000 to the HIV/AIDS Response Unit for the provision of a scholarship to a child either infected with or affected by HIV/AIDS.
This is an annual scholarship by the bank in its efforts to assist less fortunate persons of the society.
In making the presentation Rhona Lawrence, the bank’s Business Support Office, said that CIBC was pleased to be able to assist a child to further their education in spite of their illness or their circumstance.
She said that every child deserves a chance for improvement no matter the circumstance.
Psychologist/councillor from the HIV/AIDS Response Unit, Mary Williams, said she was happy because of the continuing partnership between the unit and the bank.
“We are very happy to receive this cheque from CIBC First Caribbean bank because over the years they have been helping us in assisting students who have been affected by HIV to get a good education and that is the kind of thing that we want to see continue to happen in Dominica,” she stated.
