Cooperative Division announces winners in essay competition

Makayla Bedneau of the Salisbury Primary School receives her prize from Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit

Four schools have emerged as winners in the essay competition held by Dominica’s Cooperatives Division as part of activities marking 2012 as International Year of Cooperatives.

According to the Division, 15 primary schools and 10 secondary educational institutions participated in the competition.

Seventh Day Adventist Secondary School was among the winners, with one of its students Kaina Dupuis taking the first prize in the secondary school category.

She was given a plaque for her school and a monetary gift.

Placing second was Darnel Carbon Wilson of the Convent High School – she was not on hand to receive her prize at the Cooperative Division’s Fort Young Hotel held function on Wednesday where the winners were announced.

Top winner for the Primary Schools section was Salisbury Primary School’s Marquela Bedneau, followed by Jessima Carrette of the Clifton Primary School.

My apologies for sending a comment to you that made it seem as though you had not posted one of my comments. Actually, my comment to your news item would have been that you committed the same offence as the ‘other guys’. You have the name of Kiana Dupuis spelt differently from the way it is spelt under the photo (one has to be wrong, so wrong, so please check) Thank you!

This coming from someone posting within a “virtual” forum… Some people have no respect if you’re from Dominica I feel nothing but pity for your family as you are only labelling yourself in your ignorance

It’s like there is only one minister across the whole government. Well I guess Dominicans like it so. Every public event is that man. Go on Skerro . . . lol

Who is the Minister responsible for Co-operatives.

      April 19, 2012

I believe is the PM. Not sure, there was a move to move Co-operatives under the Business Unit (the one doing Investment, sale of passport) – so if that was done is the Pm -Minister of finance.

The Minister responsible for Non- Financial Cooperatives is the Hon. Gloria Shillingford….she was also present at the function

The Prime Minister is the Minister of Finance-responsible for financial Cooperatives better known as the Credit Unions
