Dalton Maronie appointed Carifesta Ambassador

Dalton Maronie

CARICOM Youth Ambassador (CYA) of Dominica Dalton Maronie, has been appointed an official Carifesta XI Ambassador at a Carifesta Regional Youth Focus Coordinators Meeting recently held in Suriname.

He joins CYA from across the region who were appointed at the meeting.

CARIFESTA is a multidisciplinary festival that showcases the cultural expressions of artists in over 30 countries in the Caribbean Region.

The Caribbean Festival of Arts (CARIFESTA), was initiated by the Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community in 1972 to celebrate the arts, foster a vision of Caribbean unity and to positively advance Caribbean culture regionally and internationally.

CYA’s presence at the Suriname meeting gave special attention to a Carifesta Youth Village to be built for the festival.

According to Maronie, the Youth Village is meant to create/ simulate a village where only youth organizations or representatives of CARICOM will be allowed to perform. It will comprise  6 components including The Big Stage, Food Court and Lounge, Knowledge Booths, Krutu (meetings/debate on Youth related subjects), Exposure and Movies/Video Exhibition.

The newly appointed Carifesta XI ambassadors are expected to work hand in hand with their CARICOM counterparts, prime ministers, ministers of youth and culture to discuss the necessary preparations and process involved in the staging of the festival.

Carifesta XI will be held in Paramaribo, Surimane on August 16-25, 2013.

:-D Thank to all of those who have supported me from school, community, home, and work. the only way that I am what I am today is because of all of you. But, we all are ambassadors for Dominica if we continue to be Strong Patriots and continue to do all what is necessary to keep Dominica united. Both the female CARICOM YOUTH AMBASSADOR AND MY SELF CARICOM YOUTH AMBASSADOR and CARIFESTA XI AMBASSADOR will need the support from each and everyone of you, to have Dominica properly represented at this years staging of CARIFESTA in Suriname. Let us make our culture and our way of life know…..I look forward to working with everyone of you…….

Splendid job young man, I don’t know you but I can see that you’re making positive strides towards a positive life and as a young person myself who also worked hard and volunteered my time in youth development from an early age I applaud you for taking up such a major role. Do your best, and ensure that you reach, if not your goals, but as near to it as possible and that alone in itself will your life learning experience. From one young man to another! God bless you!

If you had known Dalton well, you would know that there is no roro. Dalton, just keep your head high and continue to make we in Dublanc proud and Dominica by extension. You know how we do it back home, when bad thing happen to our people especially our youths we cry with them and for them, we pray that God will change them, more so when our young people make us proud, (especially the male). We will continue to lift you up to God Dalton and you know we will, just to let you know “No weapon formed against will never prosper”.
CONGRATULATIONS! FROM THE ENTIRE DUBLANC COMMUNITY, YOU HAVE RAISED OUR NOSES HIGHER. WE THANK GOD FOR YOU MUM PAULINE, YOUR GRANDMOTHER WHO DID A SPLENDID JOB IN RAISING YOU AND THE CATHOLIC COMMUNITY OF DUBLANC WHO SUPPORTED YOU 100%
GOD BE WITH ALWAYS, MAY HIS LIGHT SHINE UPON AND MAKE YOU WHOLE.
