Deserving principals to be awarded today

14 principals will be awarded this morning at the first ever Ministry of Education National Principals of Excellence Awards.

Chief Education Officer Steve Hyacinth says the Ministry felt it necessary to celebrate and observe excellent principals.

He said the quality of a principal is a key determinant on whether a school succeeds or fails.

“We have been recognizing our excellent teachers and as a ministry we have decided to celebrate our principals too. Research has shown that school leadership is critical to the success of our school. We recognize the importance of teacher’s quality but we also learnt that a strong effective principal at the helm of school has the ability to aspire change,” he said.

Addresses are expected to come from the Education Minister Peter St. Jean while Dr Irvin Pascal will deliver the feature address.

The Acting Prime Minister and other members of Cabinet are also expected to be in attendance.

The event will be held at the Arawak House of Culture from 10 a.m.

what about Mrs Ramona Joseph? you all forgot about her, she don’t deserve to be recognize? please give her all her flowers while she is still alive she has been bed bound with a stroke for about ten years now. Congratulations to the principals. Excellent teaching; work well done. You are worthy of this recognition due to your dedication.
It takes one to love teaching and children to enjoy your career and to excel in it.
I know that you will keep up the good work to assist your students in every respect. By your example, others will emulate you.
I will keep saying that Dominica has come a long way and is moving on…>
In bygone years, such recognition was non-existent even though teachers/head teachers/principals did an excellent job and of discipline.
I am happy to note and to state that times in Dominica have changed and for the better.
God bless every one of you.
