Dominica’s first to achieve the CXC (CAPE) Associate Degree

Business Training Center (BTC) would like to congratulate Lucy Vilma Belle-Matthew on successfully completing the CXC (CAPE) Associate Degree in Business Studies.

As per the information from the Ministry of Education’s local exams registrar, this is the first individual on island to complete and achieve this most recent qualification offered by the Caribbean Examinations Council. This is a milestone achievement not only for BTC, but for Dominica by extension.

Mrs Mathew is extremely elated for being the first Dominican to have achieved such.  She started her degree in September of 2007 and she attributes her success to her level of commitment inspite of major challenges. She thanks her family for their support during her studies at BTC.   To date Mrs Matthew has diversified her training into sales and marketing which she is currently persuing at BTC. Her future goal is to obtain her master’s degree.

BTC is also very proud of Merina Williams, the first student to achieve the CXC (CAPE) Diploma in Business Studies. Merina passed six of the seven required subjects toward the Associate Degree.  Students can also achieve Diplomas in various disciplines as they attempt to achieve the full Associate Degree. Merina is committed to passing the final exam required to achieve the full Associate Degree in Business  in June 2011.

BTC has been offering the CXC (CAPE) Associate Degree since it was first launched in 2005.  This year 21 students wrote the CAPE Associate Degrees exams.  We have seen “better” improvement in the results this year as compared with previous years. 

Students continue to face challenges in subjects such as Information Technology, Pure Maths, & Communication Studies.  BTC is constantly upgrading the options for attempting such exams in the midst of such challenges.  The CXC (CAPE) Associate Degree is “different” from the “North American Schools” Associate Degree, due to the length of time required to study a dicipline before one can attempt an exam, and also the huge amount of work packed into that one-year syllabus. Therefore, whereas persons doing Associates with other schools get the option of attempting training & exams every semester, students of the CXC Associate Degree can ONLY attempt exams ONCE per year.  Students continue to herald that the packed information is “too much” to attempt within one academic year even as “part-time” candidates.

BTC currenlty offers CXC Associate Degrees in Studies, Computer Science, Humanities,  Technical Studies, Mathematics & Accounting.  The CXC and CAPE are recognized Globally & Internationally. Students from the caribbean has no problems with transferring credits to any school anywhere in the world.

Business Training Center is now offering Advanced Mastery Degrees in the following subject areas: Marketing Management, Human Resource Management, Project Management, Business Management and Financial Management with Cambridge International College.
