One student from Dominica has created history by becoming one of two students to be awarded regional top awards for the Caribbean Certificate of Secondary Level Competence (CCSLC) for the first time.
The other student is from Grenada.
Keiana Brown, a past student of the North East Comprehensive School will receive her award at the Opening of Council and Regional Top Awards Ceremony slated for Thursday, 1 December at the Hilton Hotel in Barbados.
Keiana achieved Master in CCSLC English and Mathematics and Grade I in CSEC Food and Nutrition, Technical Drawing and Electronic Document Preparation and Management.
The Ministry of Education is extremely proud of Keiana’s achievement and of her demonstration that there is value in the CCSLC certificate.
Meanwhile the Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) has also released the names of Dominican students who are featured on the 2016 Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) Regional Merit List.
Inoela Vital of the Convent High School placed 2nd in Electronic Data Processing Management and 10th in Caribbean History.
Jarett Jean-Jacques of the St. Mary’s Academy placed 7th in the region in Music, Sydney John of the Portsmouth Secondary School placed 1st in Physical Education and Chelsea Lawrence of the North East Comprehensive School placed 8th in Physical Education.
Former Convent High School student Kareen S. George is now the proud holder of 12 grade ones at the June 2016 CSEC Exams, having queried a grade 2 previously assigned for Literature.
You should name her parents, DNO.
Y ? for what :?
dominica student need to surpass other students in the caribbean a lucian seek 26 subjects and he made it so wake up dominican students start studying now mr skerrit try and make education on dominica a high gender cxc and this stuff fail already is masters degrees that roaming let dominica show the world where to come to get proper education is dominica you said you would like each home to have a university grad you almost 20 yrs in power not quarter of a university i heard yet do someting pm .and crime while busy selling my passports to god knows who ..best you check crime dominica too small for all this crime too happen everybody know everybody wake wake up pm and your cabinet i vex man
Also, while DNO will not seek to do justice to this talented and educated young woman I will. She is from Marigot and to be more precise, Sams Gutter the same area that one former Freedom Party Senator said that nothing good could come out of there because that area only produces a bunch of illiterates. And don be mistaken she have and is following in the footsteps of her bigger sister who have blazed the path for her and her sibblings and other students from the area who can dedicate and commit themselves to achieving the same or even better thereby helping to inprove the area, Marigot, Dominica, the Caribbean, the Work, and all of humanity.
what is the difference between CCSLC and CXC. Why did she not get the top CXC award at the National parade?
Conratulations to all . Keep reaching for the stars
CCSLC is for those who may not finish high school, so if they can’t do CSEC then at least they have the CCSLC certification
I don’t get the dislikes when the person was only asking a question. I don’t know the difference myself.
Congratulations
Way to go Keiana, job well done

Congratulations to all the students who continue to make their families and Dominica proud! Keep up the good work!
Dominica education is indoctrination, it does not teach children to think critically only memorize and recite info, that is why we not leading the world in anything positive.
except PAHO, CARICOM and the Commonwealth!
You did not learn by memory? How was your learning process? What was it like?
At this stage in their lives, it is memory time, learning by memory. It takes a lot of work to cram (as we called it) lessons. It takes a good memory to remember it all.
As they grow older to a higher grade and in college and university they will have time to do much thinking. Furthermore, they are not in a research class.
People, as bluntly put and saddening as it is, it’s true.
OK.Hater
Very True!
So what you are saying is…….that her achievement is not considered a positive lead for her country?
Hmmmm
I am her Uncle and I am from the same area as she is and have gone to the same school that she went to and I can assure you that the education system in which I was brought up is not one which teaches students to memorize and recite. Now that I am in the US and studying in their education system I can say to all the world that they have nothing on us because work that I did at St. Andrews High School and 6th form college in Dominica makes American schooling a walk in the park.
So because of your uneducated, illinformed, and inability to recognize Dominica will not lead the world in anything positive when persons like yourself seek to tear down rather than motivate and build.. So, here is some advise to help your country to make the positive contribution like that which you aalude to by first stop hating, recognize and acknowledge greatness, stop been a second class citizen in another’s country and make a contribution that would help propell Dominica into a world leader in something
Congratulations to all
