DSC offers three new programmes

dominica state collegeThe Dominica State College (DSC) has increased its portfolio of offerings with the addition this year of three new programmes.

For the first time, a generic Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing will be offered.

An Associate’s Degree in Mass communication is another new programme and courses in Fine Arts will form the third category.

These programmes are the result of DSC’s continuous response to the needs of the communities it serves.

A number of people have been asking for these courses, so the DSC took the decision to satisfy that need.

These and existing programmes will be described to a much wider audience than usual when the college team goes to various communities on the island to hold meetings with parents, guardians and other stakeholders.

This recruitment drive targets the following communities:
• Castle Bruce on Thursday 24th April at the Castle Bruce Secondary School
• St. Joseph on Tuesday 29th April at 4:30 pm at the Isaiah Thomas Secondary School
• Marigot on Thursday 1st May at North East Comprehensive School
• Grand Bay on Tuesday 6th May at Pierre Charles Secondary School
• Portsmouth on Thursday 8th May at Portsmouth Secondary School
• Roseau on Tuesday 13th May at DSC auditorium at Stock Farm Lower Campus

Another feature of this years recruitment drive is the holding of a Recruitment Fair on Friday 16th May on the grounds of the Stock Farm Campus from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm.

The Fair will include campus tours for potential students, presentations about specific programmes, distribution of programme brochures and on-site application for the new academic year. T

his will be done against a background of music and fun activities for all participants

I am sure a bachelor of education will come soon. Give the administrator time to think, study, and manage a modern university which is necessary for the growth of the nation.

DSC must consider at least an associate degree in Radiography. They could accept new students or run three year program every other year.We could do with some more radiographers and besides, it’s a nice job for those who like the medical field.

“For the first time, a generic Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing will be offered.”

This is a genuine question. What is meant by “generic?”

It would be nice if you consult the dictionary or the internet for the answer and not DNO. I am sure you are maybe one of the many facebookers.

A general nursing degree. Not a specialized area like intensive care, pediatric nursing, etc.
