200 Dominican children from Capuchin to Scotts Head were presented with gifts from the Florida Caribbean Cruise Association (FCCA).
For more than 10 years now the FCCA has included Dominica in its Christmas Gift Programme.
Children sang “Jingle Bells” to usher-in the start of the donation ceremony on Thursday morning held at the Dominica Public Service Union building.
Director of Tourism Collin Piper said Dominica is “thrilled” to again partner with the FCCA to bring “some cheer to the heart of the young ones in Dominica.”
The initiative was coordinated by ChildFund and Discover Dominica Authority. ChildFund said it selected recipients from its West Federation for this year’s event.
And, the “traditional” Christmas songs puts one more into the the Christmas mood rather than the hip-hop singers doing their thing X-mas style.
Its good to see FCCA continuing their efforts in bringing Christmas cheer.
Sadly, most business houses and responsible authorities in Roseau have increasingly over the years, dimmed the Christmas Brightness which has traditionally been associated with the Season.
Is it that they cannot afford the Christmas Lights, Decorations, etc and an increase in electricity bills.
Or is it a purely business decision . . their profit margin is better without the extra effort?
The radio station, themselves seems to have changed their pro-christmas attitude. . . now its more politics, less Christmas carols.
