I worked hard, I stayed up all night – Charice Augustine speaks

Charice Augustine, island scholar in Grade Six National Assessment Examinations

“I worked hard but I didn’t know I would make it to the top”, that’s the words coming from Charice Augustus of the Goodwill Primary School, this year’s island scholar in the Grade Six National Assessment Examinations.

Charice told the media moments after the announcement that she was both surprised and elated.

“I am feeling very happy. I know I have been studying very hard because I stayed up all night. I Know that it was only by Gods grace and mercy that I reached the top,” she said.

Meantime her mom Avanelle Joyce said she is proud of her daughter.

“I expect very high for Charice. She is self motivated and she goes for what she wants. We expect very good from her because she has always been at the top of her class,” she said.

Meantime Charice’s dad Samuel Augustine said he was flabbergasted and dumbfounded.

“I am just elated. Charice and I focused on the problem areas. We studied together every single night. It’s truly rewarding,” he said.

Principal of the Goodwill Primary School Miriam Lewis is congratulating 12-year-old Charice Augustine for her achievement at topping the

Lewis told an interview with that hard work pays off at the end.

“We thank God so much. I must say that the teachers and parents support in all of this is essential. Grade six teachers have done well,” she said.

According to Lewis, the results prove that the Goodwill Primary School is meeting the required curriculum.

I’m amazed that persons are seeking to make this about the mother or the father. Although the child has been with her father since the middle of grade five, the glory for the child’s success goes to the LORD as she has rightfully said. No church or anyone SHOULD seek to take praise for the child’s hard work, let God be praised. To the parents who take time to study and revise with their children, continue the good work. To those who are trying to muddy this moment because the parents are divorced, SHAME ON YOU!!! Please choose another time and place air your ignorance and arrogance.

    Congratulations good job.

As an educator, I just hope that the statement you made about staying up all night was just a figure of speach or a one off thing.

Again congrates and thumbs up to the parents for doing what very few of them do, Help.

@Gramma of all the things to comment about that’s the first thing you want to comment about? Common man, low minded people. We are all humans, WE ARE NOT PERFECT. There’s something called typo. Maybe if you were listening to the news you would have heard her speak and she sound very intelligent like she is. Congratulations to this little scholar. Wish you all the best in your studies. Keep on putting good first and every thing else will fall in line.

It’s good to know that at your tender age you recognize and know that it is all through God’s Grace and Mercy that you made it. Congratulations and continue to do your best for it is just the beginning of things to come; once again congrats

    • June 27, 2011

Annonymous I was about to write the same things to Charice; you have said it for me.

I just wish that her adults in Dominica–starting with our highest authority would realize that without God Almighty, by the attitude and conducts of His Person of Love–Jesus Christ we can do nothing. For without the mentality of God’s Love everything we do is vanity.

Charice, may you continue to thrive in the ways of Love, the ways of God, the ways of Life in you. And I hope that you will become a model for those who are of you age–younger and older as well. Blessings, my girl!

        June 28, 2011

For your information the girl has been with her father since the middle of grade five and he has played an integral part in her success. So for what ever reason you are pissed with him, get your facts straight. indeed get a grip and let him enjoy the moment.
