Education Minister, Petter Saint Jean, has announced that schools across the island will open today for the new academic year.

The year was expected to begin on Monday, September 5, but inclement weather associated with a tropical wave forced authorities to hold back for at least one day.

“Today, Tuesday, September 6, schools around the island will open for the new academic year,” Saint Jean said in a live interview on Kairi FM Radio on Tuesday morning.

He encouraged students, teachers and parent to face the academic year “with a sense of commitment and industry.”

“I think that it is important that as a community, we get involved in our children’s education and ensure that this year every Dominican child excels in his work at school,” he stated. “If everyone works together, I believe that it can be done.”

Saint Jean noted that the Education Ministry has no information on schools affected by the passage of the tropical wave.

“All our school plants are in shape for the reopening of school this morning,” he stated.

yes schools are opened but no running water?

dominica is a waste of dam time…..DOWASCO needs to be investigated or they need to operate on a scientific basis…u can’t tell me a little rain and intakes all down? where is the planning…maybe DOWASCO needs a foreign personal to help with directions..

dominica has too much water not to have a adequate water system….

u can’t be progressive in reverse all the time…so sad to see dominicans brainless…

dominica is selling passports all over the globe why not invest and upgrade your water intakes to a professional standard, i would think a float system can shut off the dirty water from entering…if am wrong…but dominicans so dunce droll and foolish it’s amazing…they come with all excuses, about can’t do…

DOWASCO can’t continue to be giving mediocrity to it’s customers…
maybe the Boss man isn’t wise in terms of innovations? he should be fired maybe?

dominica needs to be professional and not gravel…
