Justina Charles denies claims of marginalization in youth ministry

The Hon. Minister for Youth, Justina Charles, has affirmed that there has been no marginalization of Dominica’s youth from within her ministry.

The minister was refuting claims of marginalization made during the national consultation of the youth policy review last week.

“We have made strides in the movement of our youth across Dominica and from the very onset I would like to say as the minister responsible for youth, I do not think that there has been any marginalization of any sector of youth but we look at youth across the board. So when we speak youth, we do not speak of youth with any distinction. Once you fall within the age group and we look at all of the other aspects of what makes you a young person, you are part of the process and you are to benefit from everything across the board.”

She highlighted some of the major strides that have taken place within youth development.

“We will understand prior to the 1970’s there was probably nothing tangible, nothing the youth could identify with. We were all in the communities and living our own lives and finding ourselves in social groups. As a result of interest and concerns and situations which our young people were confronted with we saw the establishment of the National Youth Council in 1970. The NYC represents the youth body across the island. We saw the establishment of the National Youth Development Division in 1972. Why would any government institute or give support to these establishments? It is because of the interest and concerns of our young people.”

The Hon. Minster believes that the new youth policy must be one that is modern.

“Youth development, we must admit, is dynamic and it must change with the world and the environment in which we are. The National Youth Council and other facilitators have gone across the island meeting with young people and other stakeholders right through… I sat with admiration when Senator Jahsiah Benoit exhorted the young people to take ownership of the policy. While the policy will guide Government in our planning and financial allocations, in executing and ensuring that we listen to the voice of the young people, you as young people have a responsibility when this policy is complete to use it as your tool to monitor the implementation of the things that you propose.”

Same old crap all the time…The hard fact is for 16 years, you and your Evil DLP have largely anbandoned the youth,in all aspects of life:poor role models, bad governance, disrespect for the comstitution, you all have created a begging population, killed sports, etc,….SQUARE PEGS IN ROUND HOLES!!

  2. Justina, marginalize, or marginalization means to relegate to a marginal position within a society or group. We define youth to be a time of life when one is young especially during the period between childhood, and maturity!

That is the early period of existence, of growth, or development; therefore I suspect even in your conversation you fail to understand the term “marginalizes” in Cambridge English! And so I ask you where do you draw the line between youth and adolescent, by which time one should still be emotionally, or intellectually immarture.

An eighteen year old is considered an adult capable of making decisions, as they are no longer considered a child, nevertheless, they are still in their youth, and has not peak to the prime of their life. So in your world I wonder how you define “youth.” I say a twenty-five year old person is yet considered young! but by the time you are in your fifties you are no longer a young person, though I believe you are almost seventy…

    • I believe you are almost seventy and think you are still young! Hahahahahahahahahahahahahah! Me fram Marigot an Wesley too! So you ca run but you doh can heid oui!

        Almost 70?? 8-O 8-O 8-O

Talk about rubbing off the ‘kwass’ on yourself and putting it on somebody else…..smh.

      • You can say what you wish, but if she was born Justina Musgrave, to a father from the island of St. Kitts, we called Red Stanley, I sure know Justina, and know what I am talking about!

If Stanley Musgrave was not her father, then I am wrong!

You can also ask her about a man named Kenneth, and ask her what is he to her, and what he did in Marigot in the late 1950’s and was smuggled out of Dominica: I know eh, but I doh talking eh!

Me mouth seal shut, no wild horse go drag dat out ar me eh!

        Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah!

Justina, That is a big lie, what you have uttered there. YOu are misinformed, you have no history of Dominica’s youth.
    This statement is false
“We will understand prior to the 1970’s there was probably nothing tangible, nothing the youth could identify with. We were all in the communities and living our own lives and finding ourselves in social groups.
Response: Youth groups were active in every village, community, along with scout, guides, theatre groups, carnival youth groups. They raised their funds, but today they have been selected o receive funds from supremo as a buying votes and friendships tactic This is corruption. We the youth are offended by your silly statement and your should apologise and resign. This is a damn on Pierre Charles who I recall lead the youths in Grand Bay along with Davis Letang from Pichelin and the youth group from Loubiere.
Go educate yourself and run away from this misguided Skerrit.
Damn this corrupt Labour government. Bunch of uninformed…

Amen, she is disregarding her own late husband’s legacy such as his establishment of L’Echelle and his postion as President of the National Youth Council in the late 70’s. Shame on you Justina.

    1. President Obama made it plain that though his name and that of his wife will not be on the ballot his legacy as president will be on the ballot, and therefore he believes Hilary is the best person to build and preserve his legacy. In comparison, Pierre Charles name was not going to be on the ballot because of his sudden death, but clearly his legacy was. One would expect his wife, Justina Charles to be the best person to defend his legacy. But Justina betrayed her husband’s legacy; so that alone to me disqualified her from making any statement on behalf of youth.

    2. Hilary Clinton accused Trump of being dangerous and therefore according to her such person should not be president. In like manner, Justina Charles got an opportunity to stand for young people when a top ranking man was accused of allegedly being involved in sex scandal with a 16 year old. Instead she referred to the accused as a hero. So she should not have any job that involves young people let alone minister

Accuser, if only people knew about you and your lifestyle. The 16 year-old very well knew what she was doing. She is not a baby. She is way past the age of reason. She gave her consent. So keep this out of this discussion. There is a time and place for everything.

    • What does Obama, and Hilary Clinton have to do with you all crap in Dominica?

To mention President Obama and the Clinton’s name in anything involving Dominica, and on the same page that the face of Justina Charles makes it appear to be an attempt to dignify the rubbish she is talking. Or your rhetoric is simple another way of making comparisons between Dominica, and America!

There can never be any comparisons to the day this earth change to a new earth. Stick with the issues, which concerns Dominicans, think in terms of voting Skerrit, Justina, and the whole bunch of parasites in the Labor Party government who are alive because they suck and drink the blood of the poor.

It is not enough to watch Television, and confuse your mind that you are part of the United States, and what goes one here concerns you, the issue is Justina, and the labor party getting richer each time you vote them into power, and all you get is the free red piece of rags they give to you to dress into and…

I dont expect you to yes that is the case Ms. Charles. To admit that would be admitting that you are not doing your job. However, i believe this lady doesnt know what the youth need or how they think or feel or what it is they see as their future here in Dominica. Just like how sports is held hostage because you feel like you are the gate keeper, so do the youth feel left out. program after useless program with no real community impact. you all just do just to say you do. but usually by then its too little to late and we are left with the scraps and the pieces to make sense out of nonsense until the next program. Out youth should be first and foremost.

You too often take every thing that is negative about you and turn it to something positive. In other words you take your ignorance for a badge of honour…It is time to stop and face the facts…There is almost nothing for the youth; if the bus fees are too high ;their parents don’t have a steady job ,how will they get proper training when every thing is based in Roseau? Wake up and smell the coffee.

Do you expect everything to be handed to them on a silver platter? Why do their parents have no money? Every month, those who are without, unemployed get some financial assistance from the government. What do they do with the money? When they receive the money, they should take care of important matters first as having bus fares for their children. The government is already paying for their training. What more do you people want? Some of you do not face the facts.
Consider the cost of living is increasing. No exception where I reside
This is why students must take their schooling seriously, be diligent in their studies and graduate.
Times have changed and will continue to change as the years progress and become more expensive. Without an education who will they depend on? It should not always be the government.

    You are misguided!
    Youth today are indeed marginalized
NYC is a partisan DLP construct!
You would have a very difficult time proving where NYC seeks out and involves UWP youth!

You will have to show me some proof!
Your talk is just to dam cheap right about now!

    We in 2016 my lady.

these people are just evil and wicked…but the facts are on point, everything this labor regime will continue to fail miserable, unfair elections never breath good deeds to a island
it’s like a curse which hits you at all angles…

would advise her to do the FACT CHECKS……

if this regime really cared about Dominica, how can u sit and be happy with Dominica rated as the Poorest and Slowest economy in the region…….

why not advocate for electoral reform these are the issues which make a island Great, as the outside world will view dominica as progressive and modern…..

these people are happy with the crumbs dished out to their dazed and highly ignorant base….time for these folks to be whipped harshly…

dominica is embedded with too much darkness thus light can’t come through, to many love and boast about the darkness in society..

You should realize some nationals are the ones who make their country poor and backward due to their attitude, in also their comments.
Nationals should take their life seriously. How many of them you defend who went to school, were school drop outs and did not graduate? Who is truly responsible for such people?
You keep blaming the government for everything as if the government is responsible for them. Why did they not graduate, obtain a good paying legal job and build their country? The less caring they are the economy will not grow.
You cannot deceive realistic and sensible people. Every D/can will not agree with you people’s comments and criticisms. You are putting too much of a burden on the government and none on those laissez-faire nationals. I refer to those who do not care, who also live leisurely and expect everything to land on their lap. Some smoke marijuana and other illegal drugs. Yet they blame the government for their dilemma.

My Friend, they will put the truth in front of you in blood letters, give you glasses and you will not recognise it even if an illiterate from the Labour Party call out it out for you.

That is how you blind Skerritites have become. In denial, hiding the truth, making up story as if things are happening as the country goes down.
