Lions Club give Penville Grade K and school wall facelift

On Saturday, August 28, 2010,  eleven members of the Lion’s Club of Dominica spent their day assisting the Penville Primary School with preparations for the beginning of the new school year with a view of providing an environment conducive to learning for the students, while at the same time making it comfortable and relaxing.

Working together with the school Principal, Mrs. Euella Joseph, and through the kind contribution and donation of paints and other supplies by Harris Paints (Dominica) and DOMLEC, the Club was able to paint the Kindergarten Class a relaxing shade of yellow and also repaint a Drug Free Zone Mural on the outside wall of the school. The mural which was designed by Dunstan of Wesley and a resident of Thibaud was not yet completed at the end of the project but would be by the beginning of the school term.

The Club also went on to make a donation of storage containers, which would assist teachers and students in the management and safekeeping of the educational supplies in the classrooms.

This project was just one of many planned by the Dominica Lion’s Club for the Lionistic Year 2010-2011, as one of the main focus for the year is in the area of Education. In the future the Club also intends to continue its assistance to the school through a donation of books and other educational tools.

The club welcomes requests as well as donations towards future projects as we continue to serve.
