The Massacre/Canefield primary school is the winner of the National Anti-drug Quiz competition for primary schools.
The school was represented by Shayla Johnson and Joshua James and they said they were elated because of the victory.
“I feel happy and excited,” Johnson said.
“I feel happy because I studied so much and then I emerged victorious,” James gushed.
Teacher of the school Earnie Laudat said she was proud of the students, saying “they did well.”
Paix Bouche Primary came in second, followed by Grand Found primary in third place.
The competition is an annual event aimed at raising awareness of the use of illegal drugs.
Other schools which participated were the Woodfordhill, Newtown and the Ebenezer SDA Primary schools.
Meantime Director of the National Drug Abuse Prevention Unit, Jacinta Bannis, commented that the students were very knowledgeable of the subject matter.
“So I have no fear when it comes to information on drug abuse. I know they have the information and they can pass it on,” she said.
Thursday is being observed as International Day Against Drugs and Illicit Trafficking under the theme: drug dependence is preventable and treatable.
Bannis said the day is important for Dominica and the world in general.
The competition was held at the PSU Building on Valley Road.
