Massacre/Canefield Primary School holds Sports Day

Miss B house
Students of the Massacre/Canefield Primary School turned out in large numbers to participate in their yearly sports day activity on Friday.

Students represented various houses including Augustine, Jolly, Miss B and Jno Rose.

Teacher at the chool, Dwayne Drigo, told Dominica News Online (DNO) the event acted as a compliment to learning.

“It gives the students an opportunity to display their skills and talent in various sports,” he said. “Because a lot of time we focus on academics and we forget extracurricular activities.”

Students competed in sports such as; sack race, lime and spoon, bottle filling, relay, throwing soft ball, three-legged race and tug of war.

Principal staff and students of the school wishes to thank sponsors parents and other individuals who helped to make this day a great success.

I remember this school, I attended back in 1995-1996 ? It would be nice to reunite with teachers and classmates but I don’t remember anyone, or their names. I grew up in massacre, child of Josette Winston, grand daughter of Lucita Winston-merrifield.

Anyone remembers when Massacre school would travel to Mahaut Primary School for Sports Day and both schools would compete. I always remember Massacre school winning and a bunch of kids walking from Mahaut to Massacre singing, “Massacre win Mahaut! Massacre win Mahaut. Who win? Massacre! Who lose? Mahaut.” LOL. Good old days.

I attended this primary school and today I am a Computer Programmer. Sir Joseph, Ms. Foye, Ms. Nicholas and so many others were great teachers.
