On Saturday August 15th 2015 the National Youth Council of Dominica (NYCD) will hold a general assembly to be hosted at the Conference Hall of the Public Service Union in Roseau.
Delegates from over sixty (60) registered youth organizations are expected to participate in the event, which begins at 10:30 am.
The key objectives of the General Assembly include a review of the NYCDs work-plan, presentation of the Presidents and Treasurers Reports and election of a new Executive Board which shall serve for a two-year period.
Nadege Roach, who is the 1st Vice President of the NYCD, described the event as very important for the NYCD.
“The general assembly is in fact the most important event of the National Youth Council because that is the time youth from across the island come together to review the work of the present executive and it is also in that forum where they get to vote for the executive members which will run the NYCD for the next two years,” she explained.
She also stated that the impact the event depends on the outcome of the election of the executive.
“I say so because it’s up to the young people to choose the executive members wisely, for it is those people who will run the affairs of the NYCD for the next two years,” Roach noted. “You could end up with an executive like ours who have worked tirelessly for the past two years to empower our young people or you could end up with an executive that is lazy. The choice is theirs.”
Youth leaders are encouraged by the NYCD to register their respective organizations with them by July 31st, 2015.
Registration forms are available at the Office of the NYCD, the Youth Development Division and via the NYCDs website www.nycdominica.org.
All nominations for the respective positions on the NYCD Executive should be forwarded to the NYCD Office by August 5th 2015.
The people making up the present executive are President, Jahisiah Benoit; Chairperson of the General Assembly, Bert Paul; First Vice President, Nadege Roach; Second Vice President, Dalton Maronie; General Secretary, Delroy Williams; Treasurer, Sharla Gabriel; Assistant Secretary/Treasurer, Tadd Henderson; Publicity Coordinator, Felicia Pierre; Committee Members, Malik Stuart and Annel Lewis; Kalinago Youth Representative, Narissa Augusite; CARCIOM Youth Ambassadors, Natasha Jervier and Deion Anselm.
i hope they have the fortitude to bid Jahisiah goodbye.
It is so wrong for you all but you ask one important question, who is financing the NYCD, people need to put their money where there mouth is. The senator is contributing to help the young people. What are you all doing to help?.
Yes, who is financing this organization? They seem to be well organized and not poor. Who is bankrolling this? Is it a state secret? I am very suspicious the money could come from a foreign power.
It is interesting to see whether this political organization will re-elect the same executive. The President is the care taker of the Roseau South Constituency of the labor Party. He is also a Senator in the Parliament, nominated by the Skeritt led Administration. Recently, their have been reports on the talk shows that he was given a contract by the Skeritt led Government. In fact, the Opposition tried to bring up the matter in the last meeting of Parliament, but was not allowed to do so, by the Speaker. I lost count as regards the total amount of red caps this feller is wearing.
Doc. I believe that organisation is modeled on the Communist Youth League of China. The only thing missing are the red scarves but otherwise it is almost identical, believe me. They try to run this surreptitiously, without drawing too much notice but we are alert. In my opinion that Benoit fellow is dangerous and we must keep a close watch on him especially.
Jahisiah Benoit can not be chairperson of this supposedly non-political organisation and at the same time be a Senator in Parliament, representing the Labour party. This is wrong, wrong , wrong!
Also, if we are all equal why do they need a special Kalinago youth representative/ This is so patronizing.
PS. Who is financing the NYCD?
