National Youth Rally carded for November 2

The National Youth Rally will be held at the Windsor Park Stadium on November 2nd from 9:00 a.m. as part of activities to mark Dominica’s 33rd Anniversary of Independence.

The Hon. Minister for Culture, Youth and Sports, Justina Charles will deliver the feature address. The youth speaker is the 2011 Island Scholar Sydney Jules.

This year, the rally will feature performances from the Hebrew Boys and the Convent High School Choral Speech Group and a drill display by the St. Alphonsus Scout Troop. Two schools, the Goodwill Secondary School and the Purple Dragon Academy, will present creative displays during the march past.

Dominica’s Lady of Song Ophelia Olivacee Marie will lead students in singing the patriotic song, ‘Mwen ke Helei’ and the reigning Calypso Monarch, Tasha P, will sing the rally song, ‘Let the children be children.’

A number of students will be presented with awards for excellence in academics and sports. Two students will also receive tourism awards after excelling in regional competitions organised by the Caribbean Tourism Organisation and the Florida Caribbean Cruise Association.

Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit will take the salute.

It is very Disappointed that a youth ralley is being held and the youth of the country is not invited. I would like to ask the Question ” Who are they making the National youth Ralley for: For adult or for the youth. The ministry of Education should rethink its position of have regular school on the day the youth ralley is held.

The calendar of event for most of the schools included youth rally and school community service day.

The school community service day was suppose to be today but they then realized that most student will come the the youth ralley , they changed it to wednesday 2nd which leave me to think , the school children, instead of being at ralley they will be doing school community service

What a shame , shame shame shame on the ministry and all the educator who are silence on the matter

Me and all my children will be going to the youth ralley.

I want the authority to rethink their positio . if all parents were like me , they would send their children to watch the ralley .

i really hope that the feature address will captivate the attention of the students and that its not too long. we sometimes forget the attention span of students. I also hope that it will relate to the youths/school children
