An $83,000 project to commence in 2012 is expected to benefit Dominican youths.
Chief Youth Development Officer Jules Pascal made the disclosure when he addressed the 8th Awards ceremony of the Dominica Youth Business Trust this week.
He said the project will focus on several aspects of youth development to include sports and technical support.
“This project seeks a collaborative and holistic approach to successful youth entrepreneurship to focus on sports to employment skills. It will be undertaken in four phases, the Sports and wellness components, technical vocational skills, attachments and internships, small business development and self employment,” he said.
According to Pascal, employment is critical to national and regional economies.
“More and more we need to realize that the youth entrepreneurship, small enterprise program is a very good initiative to employment,” he said.
He says however there are employment gaps which must be addressed.
