The Paix Bouche Primary School and community will join in celebration of an event which has been described as a major achievement.
During the month of September 2013, the school will celebrate its 50th anniversary which organizers say is a significant achievement for any institution.
They say this milestone has significantly impacted education, the building of human capital, quality of life and the success of the Paix Bouche community.
The school, which was established in 1963, has provided primary education for almost the entire community and has also been a key player in cultural and social development of Paix Bouche.
The anniversary will be celebrated under the theme “Years of Class 1963-2013, Education for Now and Beyond.”
The main objective of the celebration is to provide the opportunity to reflect on the achievements of the Paix-Bouche Primary School and its contributions to community and National development.
To commemorate this “Once in a Lifetime” event, a week of activities will run from September 15 – 22, 2013, and will draw the participation of principals, teachers, and past and present students, parents and the wider community.
These activities will include an Ecumenical Service, Grand Assembly and Walk-A-Mile-In-My-Shoe, Feed the Children/Eat Fish Day, Night of Story Telling and Ring Games, an exhibition/Awards and Cocktail and an Over the Year’s Talent Explosion.
The final day also coincides with the Village Feast on September 22nd, 2013

Man it sure brings back so many good memories but I remember the school being so much bigger! Made some great friends and had some great teachers. Big ups paix bouche!
Hey Reuter, You were smaller; that’s why the school looked bigger. I thought the same thing to. And to tell you, there wer not so many big buildings at the time, so for us it was huge. LOL
Congratulations to the paix bouche community for such a great initiative. Hope that community persons participate and make this a grand occassion.Hats off to the organizers .
man u all should have sent out invitations to those of us overseas b4 now because i would surley make it my duty to be there. any way great, lets not forget that we have had wonderful teachers and principals throughtout the years and most of them from home. have a good time and keep paix bouche at the top
Undoubtedly the best village in Dominica with such great community spirit, hard working people and always a drive to be excellent in whatever we do. I remember those days of always winning the school choir competitions with Mrs. Walter (she’s the best!)…I love Paix-Bouche…this community stands behind its own! Can’t wait for the celebrations!!!
This really is a tremendous milestone indeed. The week of activities to comemorate the same is an excellent innitiative which will I hope bring past students together again and enhance community spirit and togetherness. I want to congratulate and give comendations to the present administrative staff at the School and urge that the good work so far is kept up. I must confess that I am proud to be a past student of this educational establishment. I urge that the excellent education and positive upbringing which emanates from the School continue throughout the years to come!!!
‘Please take me to my dear PaixBouche School, please take me to the school that I love, and tell me of all my dear school days, that I shall remember always. I’ve travelled through many a country, I’ve travelled through many a town, but never shall I ever forget, my sweet and dear ALMA MATER’.
my almamater I love
lets think positive its ours let continue to build it
I will be there. I encouage those of us living overseas to make a contribiution in cash or kind.
This will prove that we are putting our money where our mouth is.
Bless a child.
Congrats to my alma mater!! So many fond memories. I wish I could be there.
Congratulations to the PaixBouche community. To the past and present teachers I want to say thank you. Your great work shines in Dominica and abroad. Special mention has to be made of Mr. John F Alexis; you were the greatest. Teachers like you should not have to retire. Keep up the good work!!!
A village with a unique name Paix Bouche— “close your mouth” I wonder the origin of the name…. A village with love and unity… Its a family village– “All ah we ah one family” Rich in culture it is a heritage village……..
The name originated from the old walking trail from Portsmouth which went over the hills from One Mile in a direct line over the “Donkey’s Back” at Dos D’Ane, and up the steep slope from there to Paix Bouche and on across Terre Plat to Blenheim. That was before the present motorable road was built.
The former hill path to Paix Bouche was so steep that you could not talk at the same time as you climbed up: “Ou tay ni pou paix bouche ou pou marchay moutay morne la.”
There is another Morne Paix Bouche in the south of the island named for similar reasons. That is the mountain you used to climb when going from Petite Savanne over to Pointe Mulatre and Delices.
Thanks Doc for the bit of history.
Thanks Mr. Honeychurch for this piece of information. I have heard the story before about not being able to talk while walking up the steep hill, but I was not aware of the trail from One Mile to Dos D’Ane….thanks for the lesson.
Excellent milestone indeed. I congratulate the Principal and Staff for this initiative. This will have great meaning for every individual who has become a member of the school’s alumni. Celebrate in style!!
Congratulations happy to have been part of that community and school for short time. Best village in dominica in my books. Did not grow up there but my roots started there and always visit when home
The picture would look much better with the children and Teachers, I know its vacation but te archives would have been a great help instead of an empty building. Congrats anyways
Some of us can do nothing but criticize. Why don’t get your lazy self off the computer and go in your archives for a picture of the school with all the children in front of it? Smh I wonder what you are contributing to this ocassion or are you one of those negative ones?
I think you are the negative one….making a mountains out of mole hills! There is nothing that was said to instigate that kind of response from you.
Hehehehehe And, you forgot to add that he/she should put their picture so we can see who is posting such ridiculous comment
congratulation to my village and school.kids of the seventies had allot of fun and the best principal mister Alexis won every school singing competitions.wish i could be there, i wish u all,all the best on our milestone.
You are right in giving a thumbs down to “Bernz” comments. Criticismitis is something that plagues many of us (like Bernz), especially when we’re at a keyboard. SMH for sure!!
