Alfred is said to be from a family of achievers

Past student of the Castle Bruce Secondary School (CBSS), and a former student of the Convent High School, has graduated from Monroe College with a Bachelor’s Degree with honors at age 20.

Grace Z Alfred is the daughter of Hilroy and Octavia Alfred and the younger sibling of Kimala and Hilroy Jr Alfred.

As the youngest of three siblings, and coming from a family of achievers, she is determined to strive for nothing but the best throughout her life.

Alfred attended the Castle Bruce Primary School where she obtained a government scholarship upon sitting the common entrance exam in 2006.

She went on to attend the Castle Bruce Secondary for three years, where the teachers there laid down the foundation upon which she would build her success as a student.

In 2009, she transferred to the Convent High School where her love for Literature and English was discovered by her teachers. She attempted eight subjects at CSEC and was successful in all.

Upon completion of high school, she went on to complete an Associate’s Degree in English at the Dominica State College.

After completing her degree at the Dominica State College, she went on to attend the Monroe College St. Lucia Campus, where she completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Health Services Administration with a minor in Health Informatics at age 19.

Alfred is presently employed as an English Teacher at the Castle Bruce Secondary. She hopes to further her education in the field of Health or Medicine in the near future.

I dont know u but am proud of u. The people in your country should be proud of u too. Those with the negative comments are so jelous of u. Keep your head up high and stay away from these negative folks. They wi bring u down to their level of ignorance. You are going to become a doctor one day. Dont worry with them. Misery like company. If u had about five little children pulling on your skirt they would talk bad about you. Be proud of who you are. GOD BLESS YOU GRACE. You are a gift from God to your parent.

Good job the problem is with some one like you with a high iq ? Why did you not study science , math, or become a civil engineere to build our roads and bridges. We will remain poor if we dont take the subjects to build a country all our brains are studying the wrong things let the people with less brains do these things .. we must abandon that outdated British model of civil servants and concentrate on proffesional things like finance and subjects that builds people and nation. Its now70 yrs after the British we must chang things our selves. We should not be wasting no more time doing easy subjects in college

Congratulations. It helps when one is from a family of achievers.
A Bachelor’s Degree at 20! Imagine if she continued on to a Master’s Degree and then PhD. In less than no time she will have completed her studies. If she goes on to higher studies, she would have completed all studies and well on her way to a lifetime career at a young age. Do this soon while you are still young. Those years fly. Good luck!

@Just Saying.. im just saying too.. that she completed her degree at 19.HAD 2 DEGREES UNDER HER BELT AT JUST 19!!!.. first we are ever hearing of such from our village so we felt the need to have it reported.. JUST SAYING. JEALOUSY DOES KILL IT NOT HEALTHY..

And i think to that it is indeed ADMIRABLE that she has a bachelor’s degree by the age of 19!!!! 19!! when most children still at dsc struggling to complete and associate’s degree, this young lady had a bachelor’s degree at that tender age.. how often if ever do you hear of that happening in our country.. she is the first person in our village to complete a BACHELOR’S DEGREE AT 19!!!!!!! SO LEAVE OUR GIRL ALONE PLEASE!

so someone getting recognized by their own community members is an issue now in Dominica. She is the only person from the area who has graduated from Monroe so her people felt that she should be recognized. If you are from Cb you would know that she is the only person from her year who has actually gone on and tried to further her education and has not given up or failed or loose sight of what is important alone the way..
Good job my fellow Castle brucian. Come down to the flat . Drinks on me.. we proud of you girl.

I see no issue with this young lady getitng recognized by her villagers, and her past school getting some sort of recognition. Dno publishes articles which are sent to them. Finally something positive coming out of castle bruce, after all the negatives from that area.. Strive on young lady. the sky is the limit.

Why report about the achievements of one child, why not do some investigative journalism and report on the achievements of all. Maybe there is even someone who excelled even more than her, just saying. It gives the impression that she was the only one who graduated. DNO this is not news and may I further say that this is mediocre as it relates to journalism. But indeed congratulations are in order young lady well done. You and all the other young achievers must continue to seek for higher heights.

      October 20, 2015

Putting your story out on Dno is your personal choice . It’s people and their families who choose to share their stories. if the others made zero efforts. To let their stories be known. It is no fault of hers.. It’s you andd your family’s choice or who ever knows to send in an article and Dno reports. So before talking be informed.

Because the article is about the achievements of a past student from the cbss who the people feels should be recognized and not about all who ever graduated. read the headlines and understand. we right now not concerned with who ever else we are concerned with ensuring our past cbss student get the sort of recognition she deserves for doing well for her self.

      October 21, 2015

Because DNO, is not there to go around calling universities and schools, but is there to report on news brought to them. so if the others felt that their news wasnt worth celebrating but her villagers thought hers was.. i see no issue in that.. zero issues at all.. we from cb didnt want the others involved in our article.. when we are on here for negatives allu does ask for more research noo

      • Miss Lady
        October 21, 2015

because her story was the only one brought forward. DNO reports news brought to them.. do your research thank you.. the people from her area felt that this should be recognized.. too bad if the others had nobody who wanted to celebrate their accomplishment

Dominican that’s what they should be doing. What they are doing now is equivalent to begging, just sitting around the corner to see if someone will hand them some news.

    • BSN
      October 20, 2015

Its not DNO going out of their way to publish these stories, it’s people and their families sending the stories to DNO. If others want to publish stories then they should send it to DNO. Also there are many Dominicans who have achieved enormous feats in Education and don’t put anything in the press, it’s a personal choice, so don’t get mad at DNO.

    • okay
      October 20, 2015

Well ask them to send in their article.. If hers was sent in there’s nothing DNO can do about it .. ijs too..
