UPDATED WITH MORE PHOTOS: National Youth Rally parade

Schools around the island converge on the National Stadium on Friday for the annual National Youth Rally, which forms part of the Dominica’s Independence celebrations.

The event included speeches from invited dignitaries, cultural performances and the annual march around the stadium.

Below are some photos from the march.

We will be adding more photos when they become available.

I just find it very unbecoming of a young woman to have so much cellulite on display. Why are these huge young women wearing such inappropriate skirts to march? They don’t even have deceny you march like young women. My gosh what is this country coming to? Where’s the pride and self respect?

Thanks to you DNO, without you my Dominica would be lost to me–but what an awful shame that would be! God Lord! That cannot be! And so, thanks to you once more.

Some of you must walk with your cameras so you will not have to ask for your school pictures. DNO did a great job in bringing some photos. Please understand that ALL photos will never be published. Thanks DNO;job well done.

Earlier this week I heard a lady was making some corrections to the way in which English is being spoken by our people and I was so happy to hear her, I did not call DBS to congratulate her because I was running late for work . After she so made all the necessary corrections , I thought they would take heed and correct themselves,I was wrong. This morning while listening to the news I heard the person who giving the news say November two , I felt so bad, really really bad. We Dominican abroad like to show off with what we know we have and we are being put to shame by the news people. Please call out the dates properly. Always use ( st–nd–rd–th where is necessary. Keep us proud. –Mr N.Laville. Mr Aurilleus Joseph, Mrs J.V Marcellin. Thanks. G.George your past pupil.

TO. DBS ANOUNCERS / BROADCASTERS. Could you all do better when speaking on live. be-it on TV. RADIO or Especially when you know the INTERNET is a WEB that serves the whole World. I really enjoy listening to DBS Radio. Every thing that is said on this radio station pleases me EXCEPT when I hear November one, December three , October twenty-five. It jearts my heart. We were thought properly in Dominica and to be hearing these poor grammer is really painful. I know we Dominican people were top in Grammertical English and I am ashame to here them. I expect to hear November 3rd, and not Nov three, December 1st and not December one, January 5th and not January five. Please DBS STAFF I know you all can do better.
