Ross University welcomes latest batch of students

Ross University

The latest batch of medical students about to begin their studies at the Ross University School of Medicine have been told that “all of you can and should make it through medical school”.

That hope was expressed by Chancellor and Dean of the University Dr Joseph Flaherty, as the new first year students were welcomed, encouraged and urged to aspire to do well, at what’s known as the school’s White Coat Ceremony on Friday.

“You really have a great faculty here at Ross. The Simulation Centre is so impressive, better than some of the finest medical school back at home. Take advantage of these wonderful facilities; use them wisely as they are going to enrich your foundation in medicine,” the aspiring doctors were told by Dr. Denise Infante, a Ross University graduate of 2000.

New York-based Infante, the keynote speaker at the ceremony,  has specialized in pediatric medicine for the past twelve years.

She challenged the students to embody professionalism throughout their careers and lives.

More than 7,700 medical students have graduated from Ross University since 1978.

The University says its aim is to prepare highly dedicated students to become effective and successful physicians in the United States.

The White Coat ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit, Parliamentary Representative for the Cottage Constituency Reginald Austrie as well as high profile health officials.
