Rotaract Club of Roseau welcomes new members

rotaract_logo1The Rotaract club of Roseau has welcomed four new members as part of the club’s celebration of World Rotaract Week.

After bearing prospective status for over 6 months, Dane Hypolite, Pamela Igweze, Shannoura Xavier and Mcferrin Pierre were given their membership pins at a prize giving ceremony organised by the club on Saturday, March 16.

Every year, Rotaractors and Rotarians around the world celebrate World Rotaract Week during the week of March 13 to honour the founding of the first club in 1968.

The week commemorates the success and importance of the Rotaract program and offers an opportunity to inform the local community about the amazing work that Rotaract clubs do.

As part of the week, members of the Rotaract Club of Roseau participated in various activities which included an International Wear Extravaganza, whereby members were charged with the challenge of creating a spectacular wear depicting an aspect of a country using ordinary items such as paper and plastic, a clean up of Kennedy Avenue and Cork Street, a guest night which taught interesting potential members about the runnings of the club, and a small donation to students of the AGANAR project.

Participants of the 2013 Carnival Princess Show, organized by the club, were also awarded during the week.

Rotaractors also joined in various fellowship activities including a Sports Day, which was geared at promoting fellowship and unity among members.

Members of the club ended their week long celebrations with a church service and donation to a less fortunate woman of Portsmouth.

Rotaract is an international program for young adults who believe in making a difference.

As an affiliate of Rotary International, Rotaract provides an opportunity for young adults to enhance the knowledge and skills that will assist in their personal development, to address the physical and social needs of their communities and to promote better relations between all people worldwide through a framework of friendship and service.

See photos below of some of the club’s activities for the week.
