Rotaract Club offering scholarship for DSC

The Rotaract Club of Roseau has announced a scholarship for a student wishing to attend the Dominica State College in pursuit of an associate degree.

President of the Rotaract Club of Roseau Stiengel Carter says funds were raised for the scholarship based on a very successful raffle the club held last year. According to Carter individuals interested in the scholarship need to meet the following requirements.

    • Applicants must be in good standing, have 5 passes in CXC in 1s and 2s, and be enrolled full-time during the academic year 2010/2011.
    • Applicants is also required to write a 250 word essay  on the topic the value of community service as it relates to the Rotaract theme Building communities … bridging continents’.
    • Applications must include two (2) letters of recommendations or the name of two (2) referees.
    • The Scholarship is opened only to Dominican citizens.
    • Current Rotaractors and their immediate families are ineligible to participate.

Carter who was recently inducted believes that the scholarship will encourage more and more young people to get into community service.

“And the more people we have getting into community service the bigger the impact on the community. The Rotaract Club of Roseau is happy to play its part in that regard,” Carter said.

    • Child Fund Caribbean Head Office
    • Portsmouth (place to be decided)
    • Grand Bay Youth Center
    • Castle Bruce (to be decided)
    • Marigot ( to be decided)
