Minister of Education, Petter Saint Jean, has called for youth empowerment, in order to improve the quality of life in the Dominican society.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of VF Inc’s ninth annual “Youth Summer Series,” on Monday, Saint Jean said that more youth development initiatives are necessary to prepare young people for the future.
“There is the need for you to be empowered,” he elaborated. “There is need for you to be adequately prepared for the future through youth development initiatives, where you, the young people can be encouraged to take charge of your lives, thereby improving the quality of life within our Dominican society.”
He emphasized the need for youth to make changes within themselves for their own development.
“It can be achieved only through a process of conscious transformation of your beliefs, values, and, of course, your attitudes, and, importantly, the development of skills and knowledge,” he stated.
The activity which caters to young people aged 10 to 19, will focus on empowering the youth and protecting the environment.
The Youth Summer Series will take place from July 25 to July 29, at the Convent High School and will climax with a hike in the Kalinago Territory on July 30.
Calling for youth empowerment with laplaine playing field in that condition? Don’t you know sports empowers the youth? Wolf in sheep clothing.
well said. The young people are who are going to be taking over, and if the garden should be greener in the future it needs care and attention. We have been discarded for a long time, hence we see the results.
