Minister for Education and Human Resource Development, Petter Saint Jean, is complimenting the achievements of Dominican students who have done well while at universities overseas.

Four students, who studied at Midwestern State University, were recently recognized for their outstanding scholarly achievements and received induction into the Alpla Chi, Midwestern’s honour society for underclassmen.

The four students are Kimara Joseph; Denise Laurent; Samyah Marcelin; and Kerris Shillingford.

The minister reaffirmed government’s mission to have one university graduate in every household.

He has further encouraged young Dominicans to take advantage of the opportunities available to them in education.

Saint Jean said the Dominica Labour Party Government has given the assurance that opportunities for further education are being made widely available.

Midwestern State University has reserved four places for Dominican students in January 2014 and ten in August 2014.

Congratulations to these outstanding students for seizing the opportunity granted and realizing their educational goals. Let us wish them God’s continued favor and great success in their personal and professional endeavors. Please, let us curb our selfish desires and strong urges to engage in politricks as usual and see this wonderful moment for what is, which is a chance to celebrate a group of accomplished young men and women who are shining stars in our Dominican family.

Here is the situation!. The Minister of Education congratulates some students who graduated from
a college. Wondering why he was attacked personally because he congratulated the students
How did the Prime Minister and Mr Linton be part of the conversation also the story of unpaid students fees become part of the conversation .The . So should we stop educating our children because it is difficult for them to get a job. Should they close the colleges and schools in USA cuz they too have difficulty finding jobs. Congratulations is in Order for the new graduates and their families.I wish them well
in the future. It may not an easy road fining a joy but I commend u for your accomplishment

At the Labour Party Delegates Conference in Grand Fond on 13 Feb., 2011 (reported by DNO on 15/02/11) Roosevelt Skerrit pledged himself to; ” the existence of at least one university graduate in every household”.
How is this attainable if the Govt. he leads does not pay in a timely fashion the fees for students at the U.W.I, also pledged by the same Govt.?

Mr. St Jean, take credit for those whom your government assisted and that’s ok but do not take credit for those whom you did not. Congratulations to all the students; I’m very proud of you.

That is very nice and congratulations are in order but that is easy, that costs nothing. Please, Hon. St. Jean pay the overdue fees for our U.W.I students so they can continue to follow their lectures and sit their exams. Promises are cheap but amount to nothing if you don’t honour them. People trust your word, the Govt’s. commitment and are let down. That can not be congratulated Hon. . St. Jean.

Jobs!jobs!jobs!jobs! that’s what we need not congratulatory messages. Every year this Gov’t is promising jobs, but not one single college graduate is hired. Stop making false promises.

If you are looking and can’t find something create a job. We tend to lack confidence in ourselves, the potential is all there. For example; do we have a juice producing factory on the island, there are many things we can do to create our own job. It is sad how we all depend on the government for everything. It’s time we work together to create a better tomorrow. Wake up!

Petter, you too, should take the opportunity available and educate yourself. It is a disgrace for you to be Minister of Education and does not even possess a G.C. E Certificate in Education. Do like Mr. Claudius Sanford or Mr. Spraggs John of the UWP, leave politics alone and go get yourself a University Degree in Education. Don’t you feel embarrassed when you are giving instructions to Dr. Donald Peters.

Mr. Linton has admitted he did not finished High School. Skeritt was also a drop out at University. A radio personality has offered lots of money for someone like Aaron who claims Skeritt has two University Degrees to come forwards and present proof of the Degrees, neither Skeritt, Anonymous or all the Labor Supporters have been able to come forward and collect the money.

So when did Linton admit he did not finish HS? And while he admitting all you saying is lie? Lol we do not need to bring skerrit certificate because the evidence in online, check the school website, unless the school lying?

  20. November 18, 2013

Mr.Saint Jean speaks without thinking frist yes I congratulate the students but what does have in place for them to come back too look they need jobs, now look what is happening to those D’ican students in Barbados and Trinindad their school fees are not paid and because of that they are held back so Mr.Saint Jean clean up your act before you make statements. We need our students to be respected by the Minister and his Govt.
