Petter St. Jean, Minister for Education and Human Resource Development, has congratulated five Dominican Students who graduated from Grambling State University in Grambling Louisiana on Friday

Of the graduates, four are undergrads and one has obtained a master’s degree.

The students are Kurlyn Honore (master’s), Nadine Alcendor (Cum Laude), Amanda Lee (Magna Cum Laude), Roxan Stephenson and Sabrina Joseph (both Suma Cum laude and Valedictorians).

Saint Jean said he is elated that Dominican students continue to excel at universities overseas.

“I would like to, on behalf of the Government of Dominica and The Ministry of Education, congratulate these students on their outstanding performance during their tenure at Grambling State University,” the education minister said. “You have performed very well and made your family and country extremely proud. This highlights the commitment of the Dominica Labour Party to continue the development of its human resource, especially the youth.”

Saint Jean noted that “naysayers may castigate and condemn the efforts of this current administration, we will continue to do our part in ensuring that our nation is better able to face the oncoming challenges.”

“To those who are continuing their studies, use this as motivation to do your best and know that despite the struggles you will triumph I the end. Again, we salute you and wish you all the best in your endeavours as together we continue to take Dominica to a higher level,” he said.

It is wonderful to hear that Dominicans are using the university opportunities in the US , Canada and England. It’s interesting that most Dominicans working overseas are in the US , Canada and England. It baffles me why the Dominican government doesn’t promote social/economic and political ties with these countries but instead chooses China, Libya, Venezuela and Morocco to associate with.

It’s really important that The Government is seen to recognise our achieves. This is one of the many things that I admire about Mr St Jean. He certainly goes the extra mile. Merry Christmas to my fellow Dominicans. God bless all of you.
