Scholarship seminars for students

Dominican students hoping to access scholarship opportunities for studies overseas are being urged to participate in two seminars being held here by international education consultant Sandra Bramwell.

The seminars are expected to focus on a number of topics including entry into US and Canadian boarding schools, entry into US colleges, financial aid and academic, and sports scholarships.

Bramwell is described as a consultant with a wealth of experience who has seen 8,000 students benefit from her expertise on placement, test preparation and application assistance.

The former translator and interpreter, who has for well over a decade worked in the area of international education, is said to be fluent in nine languages.

She works predominantly with students who seek scholarships to attend top universities and colleges.

The planned seminars are an initiative of the Marigot Development Corporation (MDC).

They are being held this weekend at the Garraway Hotel in Roseau and in Marigot at the Marigot Credit Union.

This lady is well known, she has helped alot of students all over to get in to top ivy league universities and other universities, some people who write negative comments and donot know what they are talking about, should do their research first before making any comments.Dominica has alot of bright students that needs to be informed about getting into some of these universitiesand help that is available out there. Thank you Marigot Development Coporation.

Young people, rather than planning a visit K-koconut this weekend, make it a date to attend the planned seminars being held in Roseau and Marigot. This is an excellent initiative of the Marigot Development Corporation (MDC), whether that group is politically motivated like the (WFC) in Wesley. One thing is for sure, the people of Marigot and Wesley are busy organizing themselves into groups and are engaged in a lot of positive community development activities. The rest of Dominica can learn a lot from the bright people from the East.

obtain a scholarship is one thing, also i do hope that she will inform them of all the trials that they will be encountering while studying abroad, cause it is not all that glory as one tend to let people believe

I work for many years with international students from all part of the globe, and believe me their are many barriers that they face, some face language, cultural, adaptation etc

Those from China they come well equip, they are not struggling but those from the other nations it is very hard on them

why you think those from China come equipped? Because they know its not a bed of roses and college is not a fancy life as shown in the movies. Of course there will be language, cultural and other barriers. If they are mature enough to o overseas to study they should know these things and they should be already prepared. Thats the job of parents, get the information your children need, if you dont know seek help.Dominicans too like readymade, get back to sweating and hard work.

What was so wrong about the comment made? He simply mentioned that you inform the prospective students of certain things so that they decide if that’s something they want to take on or not. (as with the scholarship he mentioned). I suppose ure doing back breaking work at ur school, as opposed to dominicans who want to have a good (easy going) college/ university experience? It by know means belittle how hard u work for your degree. Students want to and should choose well my dear.
