Roseau Primary School students Shanella Buckmire and Stephalia Hurtault are the winners of the West Dominica Children’s Federation 2011 Primary Schools Spelling Bee Competition held on Thursday 30th June at the Public Service Union Building.
They emerged as winners over five (5) other schools with a total of 350 points. The St. Mary’s Primary Dashaun Williams and Milan Philbert came in 2nd Place with 340 points, closely followed by the Danisha Langlais and Nathan Laville of Roosevelt Douglas Primary School with 330 points.
Dashaun Williams of the St. Mary’s Primary was awarded Best Speller of the finals, whilst the overall Best Speller award of the competition went to Danisha Langlais of the Roosevelt Douglas Primary School.
The competition was keenly contested by the students. The other participating schools in the finals were the Massacre Primary, Soufriere Primary and the St. John’s Primary School.
The organization core outcomes are to promote healthy and secure infants, educated and confident children and empowered and involved youth.
The West Dominica Children’s Federation wishes to congratulate all the participating schools in this year Spelling Bee Competition. The Federation expresses sincere gratitude to the Dominica Social Security, Jolly’s Pharmacy, Fine Foods Inc, Jays Book Store, Depex and Choices for their support.
