Six Dominicans leave for Venezuela studies

venezuelan students

The Embassy of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in the Commonwealth of Dominica has the honour to inform that six Dominican individuals selected to study Integral Community Medicine at the Latin American School of Medicine ‘Dr. Salvador Allende’ in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, departed via the Petrocaribe Corporate flight on Sunday 28th June, 2015 from the Douglas-Charles Airport.

The Second Secretary, José Antonio Olavarría and the First Secretary, Yaritza Barbosa, both diplomats of the Venezuelan Embassy, assisted the scholars in all procedures at the airport.

A numerous of Dominican nationals applied for a Scholarship offered by the Bolivarian Government through the Ministry of University Education and Technology and the Foundation ‘Gran Mariscal de Ayacucho’ FUNDAYACUCHO, but only six (6) of them have met all requirements.

After receiving intensive Spanish classes at the Venezuelan Institute for Culture and Cooperation Stacia Austrie from Grand Fond, Tadd Henderson from Bath State, Phylicia Laronde from Fond Cole, Shanice Louis from St. Joseph, Nala Thomas from Pointe Michel and Cheri-Ann Wilkins from Bath State, Roseau; will have the opportunity to become professionals with medical diagnostic and therapeutic skills. These skills will enable them to provide comprehensive medical care through health promotion, prevention, cure and rehabilitation of the individual, family, community and the environment by using clinical and epidemiological methods with a marked social approach based on ethical, humanistic and solidarity values.

The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, once again, is proud to receive a new group of young Dominican to study an important career as medicine. These students arrived safely to Venezuela and one of them expressed “We all are excited and satisfied to be here”.

My late father once advised me never to argue with a fool, because the fool always wins the argument for this simple reason: the fool only understands what is conceived in his own mind.

You are a fraud and a liar!

.”Dude it doesn’t matter where you went to medical school you have to do residecy to practice in the US and that includes students from all US schools!”(Hasta La Vivtoria).

Are you crazy? In the first place you do not even know how to spell residency so why should anyone read your crap?

Tell that in the quote to idiots like yourself, one drives from America, to Canada, in a few hours, however, a Canadian doctor cannot come here and practice medicine; your lie will eat you alive. A British trained doctor cannot come here and practice medicine without first taking and passing the FSE! I will not even explain that, if you are not a liar you will know what I am talking about.

There are American owned medical school in Grenada, Dominica, St. Kitts, and Antigua, t the students who studied there do their internship here, when they are finished they can automatically apply for a job and work here. I was told the same applies to Canadian students, they do their intern in Canada, I do not know if that is true!

When you claim that all medical students do their intern in US, that is stupid, I can tell you are someone who is so uneducated you are talking out of your mind.

The University, of the West Indies has a medical School; I believe in Mona Jamaica are you suggesting that the student has to come to US to intern, Canadians, British and Germans France, Spain Mexico come here to do intern?

Are you mad. Mexico is South of the boarder, a hundred fifty miles from my house, doctors from Mexico cannot come here and work. What are you talking about?

Guy, I know Africans who went to medical school in Cuba, came here trying to pass the FSE, failed many times and ended up driving Taxi. When I was in Premed, there were people from Iran who immigrated here, they were practicing doctors in Iran, they ended up in an anatomy class I was taking, they had to start again.

In Miami you can find old Cubans doctors who came here during the days when they fled Castro communism, they never worked one day in America as a medical doctor.

Get lost, you are a pathological liar!

Ok. We got it. You are smart! Please start by telling us where you went to High School. Name and dates of attendance. Then do the same for college. Please furnish your degrees (copies). After you have done so maybe others will follow.

As for me I did not attend high school nor did I attend college. I am a domestic worker in the US. As a result I do not have any credentials to show. You seem to know a whole lot of nothing. So be an example show your credentials.

Alumnus (in Latin a masculine noun) refers to a male graduate or former student; the plural is alumni. An alumna (in Latin a feminine noun) refers to a female graduate or former student; the plural is alumnae. Traditionally, the masculine plural alumni has been used for groups composed of both of both sexes and is still widely so used: the alumni of Wesley University.

Francisco I’m really sorry that you were unable to realize your dreams due to whatever circumstances! I’m even more sorry that it scarred you so badly! Irrespective of your unfortunate situation I think that it’s unfair to attempt to discourage young people from getting an education and trying to uplift themselves! What I want to do here is to let these people know that studying in Venezuela or Cuba or china doesn’t preclude them from practicing in any first world country and that their future is as bright as anybody who studies at a U.S. University! I have interviewed a couple of candidates from Venezuela and I have worked with scores of doctors from China and there as competent as any U.S. Grad. It is clear that you don’t know what you are talking about! Lastly, when your dad told you that you were a fool you should have believed him instead of attempting to go to medical school! You would have avoided this waste of time and money! Parents often know best!

Man go and take a damn dive in a pit of acid and drown yourself miserable behind, as for fool who wants my educational background, read constantly, and you will eventually find out the taste of the pudding is in the eating!

You all Dominicans are the same stock in your ignorant’s, I do not have to account to anyone as to where I was educated. As for the fool who screaming alumnus: Here is the definition; one who has attended or has graduated from a particular school, collage, or university: one who is a former member, employee, contributor or inmate!

By the same token alumna: first used in 1879 meaning a girl or woman who has attended, or has graduated from a particular school, college, or university, a girl or woman who is a former member, employee, contributor, or an inmate.

None of you have anything to say about me because when education was sharing I ensured I got mine!

Please say thanks to the kalinago chief Charlo whom they do not like, after the chief secured the Sir Arthur Lewis Indigenous Scholarship at U W I CaveHill,, the government tried their best to take it over when they failed they felt challenged and so skero turned to his friend the late president Chavez and so the venezuelan scholarship got started, we then began hearing about a university graduate in each home, just remember it all began because of Charlo.

    • Francisco Telemaque
      July 1, 2015

What’s the point of having a university graduate in every home, when their degree does not worth the paper it is written on. Someone coming out of Cuba, China, Venezuela, or any of the third world countries, has no value in any of the more developed world.

A degree issued to a Dominican in Venezuela, Cuba, China, only has value in Dominica, Cuba, China, and Venezuela. I do not know how Skerrit is going to emphasize there is going to be a university graduate in every home, when there are no graduates in his very own house at least for now.

We know he said he graduate in some university in the United States, however, when sort verification, we were told there is no record of that nobody name Roosevelt Skerrit graduated at that university.

If he wish to contradict me all he has to do is the same as how he was throwing his black gown in air, let him do with his certificate for all to see and read it.

Skerrit degree certificate invisible you know. Hahahahahahahahahahahahahah!

Francisco I’m a Cuban grad practicing in the US so that doesn’t make sense. And if you look up the University of Mississippi’s list of notable alumni you will see the PM’s name on there! I think this is a good opportunity for young Dominicans, some from less fortunate homes, to pursue a career!

      • Francisco Telemaque
        July 2, 2015

“Francisco I’m a Cuban grad practicing in the US so that doesn’t make sense. And if you look up the University of Mississippi’s list of notable alumni you will see the PM’s name on there!”

Guy if you are a Cuban graduate practicing in the U. S., and by the way you did not say practicing what. If you are trying to create the impression that you came from Cuba, with any type of Degree, and went directly into practice, if you are talking medicine, I can tell you that you are a liar!

Now if you told me that you had to return into an American institution, and reeducate, and graduated I will believe you. If told me you challenge the FSE, and passed it, maybe I would believe you, but you are not talking to an idiot!

For your information anybody can be an alumni. Alumni does not mean one graduated, alumni simple means you or Skerrit attended, it does indicate graduation!

      • Francisco Telemaque
        July 2, 2015

And by the way the word is “alumna” and not alumni, so whereas you are talking and not knowing the word is alumna which simple means a former, or even an employee , contributor or inmate I doubt you eve en attended college or university.

You want to believable state your name and where you are practicing in America, hospital or clinic, unless you can do that you I consider you a fake.

I am not the only one who investigated Skerrit, and found out he never graduated. In any event, all Skerrit has to do is present his diploma, a degree is a diploma received from some educational institution. All he has to do; the same as how he was in Dominica throwing his cap and gown in the air, something anybody can buy is the streets in America, all he has to do is show that bit of paper someone in Dominica, our post it on DNO, and shut me up

Also learn the word alumnus! Guy do mot mess with me because I will make you look stupid!

Dude it doesn’t matter where you went to medical school you have to do residecy to practice in the US and that includes students from all US schools! You don’t have to re-educate yourself, you’re doing a specialty and may or may not opt to do a subspecialty!. And as a matter of fact in my experience interviewers are more intrigued by the fact that we studied in Cuba, a place that so closed to US citizens!

I do not think that anybody have to read your crap, what is good for Venezuela, is not totally good for Dominica!

Integral medicine might only be know in Venezuela, but in a modern world it does not exits! nothing more than a pile of garbage. It takes no less than eight years to graduate medical school, in addition to the two years of premed. That is ten years, what happens to internship after that another two yers.

How the hell someone come out of whatever garbage pseudo so call what, and talk about they going to diagnose people.

Are you people mad? Recently some Cuban doctor claim that a Dominican has Cancer, they getting ready to go and butcher the man. He came to the United States and visited with a real doctor, it turns out the man does not have cancer all the man is suffering from is diabetes!

Take your crap and shove it whoever you are!

      • oh lawd
        July 1, 2015

Any doctor can make a mistake of mistakes at any given time! Doctors are humans! So while you are busy implying that Cuban trained doctors are not real doctors or are not up to standard, I would urge you not to brand all doctors because of another! And claiming that the person went to the US and visited a REAL doctor is madness, because I’ve heard some really crazy stories about US trained doctors!

    • June 30, 2015

They’re attending university in Venezuela, so of course they have to speak Spanish. Do you seriously think that students at Dominica State College or Ross University get to use whatever language is convenient for them rather than English?

How can someone who has not attended medical school, has no actual training in Health Science become capable of diagnosing sick people?

So you see the reason so many people in Dominica die as a result of medical malpractice. If one is not a medical doctor, nursing practitioner , or a physician assistance how come these people are able to diagnose people, even those who are trained and nursing practitioners, and physician assistance has to work under the supervision of a medical doctor.

I have a problem, maybe I am really dumb, nevertheless, I wish this Venezuelan woman would give us the definition of “Integral Community Medicine” since I have not heard of such medical training in the past.

When I read the word integral, the first thing that come to my mind are sciences such as integral mathematical integration, or compare definite integral or indefinite integral.

Then again we have integral calculus, which is a branch of mathematics concerned with the theory, and application, as in the determination of length, areas, and volumes, and in the solution of differential equations of integrals, and integration.

We also learn about Integral domain which is a mathematical ring in which multiplication is commutative, which has a multiplicative identity element, and which contains no pare of nonzero elements which product is zero.

I wonder if she meant internal medicine?

    • Reading is Fundamental
      June 30, 2015

Read your first sentence. Your answer lies within!

      Integral Community Medicine does exist.

      • Francisco Telemaque
        July 1, 2015

I am not ashamed about my first statement because I know what I am talking about. Google is not my source of education okay; I am academically educated. I have four academic degrees, three in the field of both electrical, and electronic engineering, and one in the liberal arts, so, don’t screw with me okay!

In addition to that I majored in Health Science, I did not finish to secure a medical degree, but I am damn sure I might be able to save your stupid life; that is why I know what I am talking about, who are you, with no name to challenge me?

State your name and educational background let’s see if you know about Health Science, and what it takes to be medical practitioner!

Anything goes for scrum like you, who cannot identify yourself; that is why Dominica is Dominica! And so I am asking you to define Integral Community Medicine to me, because I am not going to goggle!

That struck me so forcebly too Grell. If I’m correct I see only one male in that party. Good for the ladies of course but I notice the same kind of pattern in our graduation ceremonies. That does not bode well for the future. Well qualified women may not find a suitably qualified partner in our community to build their future with. We have a bureau of gender affairs but they should never forget that whilst there is a difference between male and female (….and we should celebrate that too!)they should get equal attention if our young men are not to become a social underclass.

DNO there is a tendency in Dominica to solve problems is to pretend the problem s dont exist. We have a growing problem whereby young. Men are visibly falling out of the higher education effort. It is concerning that every time there is a group of graduates or students heading off to higher learning the men are out numbered 9:1.

But in the photo…….. the one man is basically being hidden by the women……… That tells me what kind of society we will have in ten years time when based on the current ratios, women will be in control.
Our world was not intended to be one of women or men. It was intended to be one of human beings……………

What has gone wrong is not a very difficult answer. What has gone wrong is that truth is always under attack once spoken. We can all see what is happening but only a few dare to talk about it; the majority of people are too scared of being oppressed , victimized and vilified. We know that the young men are not in field agriculture field, on an oil rig, in a factory , in administrative ventures or on construction sites. So where are they? That is a question that the authorities must begin to answer. Are the young disenfranchised , their hopes for a future in Dominica gutter low? Have our young men realize that only a few eating all? Do they leave our shores at the first opportunity? They cant compete with the ladies on sex appeal – that they don’t receive special invitation to “discuss” scholarship opportunities?
