The Saint Mary’s Academy and Saint Mary’s Primary school’s 4-H Club is continuing its efforts to achieve its environment-friendly goals.

Students and teachers of the Saint Mary’s Academy (SMA) 4-H club hosted its first ever Green Day Assembly on January 29, 2015 at the institution’s compounds.

President of the Saint Mary’s Academy 4-H Club Phael Lander, addressed the school on maintaining a healthy environment for their future and that of generations to come. He also commended the boys of the school, particularly the 4-H Club, for emphasizing the importance of maintaining a healthy environment.

Special recognition to Mr. Bert Paul, 4-H Club Local Leader (SMA), for his dedication and hard work with the club.

On Friday 30th January, 2015 students and teachers of the Saint Mary’s Primary (SMP) 4-H club hosted its fourth annual Green Day Assembly at the institution’s compounds.

President of the National Youth Council, Jahisiah Benoit, addressed the students on maintaining a healthy environment for their future and that of generations to come.
He also commended the boys of the school, particularly the 4-H Club, for emphasizing the importance of maintaining a healthy environment.

“I want to commend you for taking the preservation of Dominica’s environment seriously and sharing in the responsibility,” he said. “The Commonwealth of Dominica is a small island developing state located in the Caribbean region; we have been branded as the Nature Island for our unspoiled natural beauty and biodiversity. Students, unless we preserve our blessed environment given to us by God, we will not have this Nature Isle in years to come. Your brothers, your sisters will live in an environment that is not as beautiful as this.”

Benoit also advised the students to make use of the environment as they employ their creative skills, for example, by making toys out of naturally available material.

Bert Paul, 4-H Club Local Leader, also lauded teachers and students of the SMP “for demonstrating that youth men and boys can indeed play a positive role in national development. Year after year, you seem to place focus on having a clean environment in our beloved country Dominica.”

“Every one of us has a part to play to ensure that our country survives another 1200 centuries,” Paul submitted.

He thus encouraged them to make central in their lives the caretaking of their surroundings as what they do can either impact “negatively or positively on the environment.”

Special thanks to Jessica Jno Baptiste and Lennox Walsh for their dedication and hard work with the club over the past school year.

    To whom it may concern,
I am interested in knowing as much about 4-H as possible. I used to be a member when I was younger and know I am trying to start on where I presently live.
Who can I reach or talk to about to?
    Great job!
