The St. Mary’s Primary School (SMP) celebrated its Visual Arts Day with much flair and creativity today 26th February, 2016, with a Colouring Book Assembly.
The activity, coordinated by Mr. Bert Paul – VPA instructor- with the support the rest of the staff, was a great success. Paul, impressed by a similar activity hosted by the Convent High School, was moved to include this affair as part of VPA Recognition Day.
Teachers and students worked collaboratively to make presentations in song, poetry and drama. The students were genuinely impressed with the presentations and seemed eager to make their own.
Earlson Matthew, an employee of the Cultural Division, and coincidentally a former teacher of the SMP made a brief presentation. He expressed his admiration for the activity as well as his pleasure for being a part of it. Matthew encouraged the boys to not neglect the value of art in their lives. He suggested that every profession has a place for creativity and self expression and that their involvement in arts would only serve to enhance whatever career path they took.
The event ended with a grand presentation by the school’s very own drumming band. Needless to say, the students and teachers wasted no time in moving to the beat of the drums and clapping to the rhythm of the music. Yes! The St. Mary’s Primary School does it again with another wholesome event. What will they think up next?
Great job good to read positive about our young aspiring men.
Just want to commend sir Paul for all his efforts, and choosing to bring his human resource to the S.M.P
