Students receive awards for excellence in tourism

Two Dominican students received awards for excellence in tourism competitions at the National Youth Rally on November 2nd.

Medina Tyson, a student of the North East Comprehensive School received an award for obtaining the 2nd place position in the Florida Caribbean Cruise Association Children’s Essay Competition. Ms. Tyson’s participated in the senior division of the essay contest and the title of her essay was “What Does Sustainable Tourism Mean To Your Destination?”

Kitwanie Carbon, a Convent High School student received an award for her performance at the Caribbean Tourism Organization’s Tourism Youth Congress held in St. Martin on September 17th 2011.

Miss Carbon became Dominica’s Junior Minister of Tourism when she won the local Tourism Youth Congress held during Tourism Awareness Month 2011. The awards were presented by Honourable Ian Douglas, Minister for Tourism and Legal Affairs.
