According to Mary Dunbar, a British artist, “We are all gifted in a unique and important way. It is our privilege and our adventure to discover our own special light.” From quite an early age children begin this adventure but often get side-tracked on the way.
In an effort to assist our youth along their journey for a better tomorrow, VF Inc. will be hosting its 4th annual Youth Series 2012 from July 23 – 28, 2012 from 9:00am to 4:00pm at the Windsor Park Stadium in Roseau, under the theme, ‘Empowering our Youth for a Better Future’.
A comprehensive age-appropriate programme covering a range of topics and has been designed. Issues of self-esteem, self- confidence, discerning one’s life purpose, learning styles, leadership development, health and wellness, sex and sexuality (for older participants) will be explored.
Youth Series 2012 seeks to provide an avenue for self-expression and determination, provide strategies for coping with peer pressure, provide insights and strategies for managing adversity, encourage and inspire the youth to be ‘the best that they can be’ and prepare them for the workplace and higher education. A varied and interactive teaching methodology will be used including field trips, panel discussions, role-plays, lectures and story-telling as a way to both educate and provide a safe, fun and loving environment for the participants. Participants are encouraged to play and network, making new friends during the breaks. Board games, cricket, football and traditional games like jacks, skipping are provided for use during the break.
The targeted age group is between the ages of 10 to 19. The students will be separated into three groups: Juniors, Intermediates and Seniors. The Youth Series 2012 will end with a hike along one of the segments of the Waitukubuli National Trail, a fun and healthy way to conclude the series representing life’s journey with hardship, friendship, good memories and bad, but most importantly, success through perseverance.
The cost for the weeklong youth series is $100, which covers meals, materials and transportation to both the venue and the starting point of the hike.
This experience will be an adventure that your child certainly will not forget. Maya Bannis, a past student of the Convent High School and a participant of the Youth Series 2011 stated, “My experience was very enjoyable. I met a lot of new people and got to see many of my friends. It was also an extremely comfortable experience and environment and we learned a lot of useful tips that helped me throughout this past year of school and teenage life.”
All reviews from the Youth Series 2011 have proven to be very positive and we are aiming for a very similar response this year. “It was possibly the most worthwhile summer program I ever attended. I was inspired to enjoy the learning and I believe that I came from it a better person and more equipped for life than when I went in., stated Alex-Maree Roberts, a current student of the Convent High School and also a past participant of the VF Inc. Youth Series 2011.

“We are all gifted in a unique and important way”–News article
That is the reason it is imperative that we ask ourselves: “What on earth am I here for”? The moment we asked that question we will begin to see the light, which will grow brighter and brighter, leading us to the path of our purpose in Life.
This purpose we will be fulfill–come what may– for is God’s purpose or His plan for our Life–and the glory belongs to Him alone.
King David of ancient Israel wrote in a Psalm about God: “Your eyes saw my substance being yet unformed, and in Your book they were all written; the days fashioned for me when as yet there were none of them”
God plans our Life, long before we are conceived in our mother’s womb–they are all for the good in us and those around us. But it is our responsibility to discover our purpose in Life, and to work at with God, by sincere faith and trust. No one can point out our purpose in Life to us, if we do not search for that person on our own.
