The Wesley High School on Tuesday celebrated its 86th anniversary, also known as Founder’s Day.
It was a day of reflection on the school’s many successes through the years.
“We have journeyed a long way from 1926, our initial beginning of eight students being housed in a room of the Methodist Mission House, the home of the Superintendent Minister of the Methodist Church as his residence was then called,” the school said in a release.
The Wesley High School began with the vision of Marjorie Errey, the first principal and the daughter of the superintendent Minister Reverend Errey, to make secondary education more available to persons of Protestant faith.
The school said some of its pioneering students included Gweneth Robin Cable, Mrs. Garraway, both deceased and Marjorie Roberts – the only one of its initial students who is still alive.
“We want to extend special greetings to the only surviving student of this initial group of eight, Ms. Marjorie Roberts who also served as a teacher of the Wesley High School for over thirty years,” the release from the school said. “Happy Founders Day to all our alumni and present students as well as past and present members of staff. May God continue to shower his blessings upon us as a school body. All thanks to him who has taken us through these many years and continues to be with us always.”
Below are some photos depicting the journey of the Wesley High School.
WHS roots travel a long way.

Sweetheart she is alive and well in one of the Caribbean Islands. Mrs. Malalu was one of the best to pass through this school, she had skills which teachers and student emulated. What a school in my days.
It still is just that it needs a little more life and publicity.

Congrats Wesley High….
best school days everr!!
CONGRATS TO MY SCHOOL…. ME AND MY FRIENDS ENJOYED OUR 5YRS THERE. 2003-2008
Congrats Wesley High Old Girls lets form an association to help construct the school, our alumni please lets help.
My two years teaching math, geography and religious knowledge at Wesley High School were by far some of the most profound years of my life. Students from the 1975-77 era will fondly recall “Lola Atulpa,” the papier-marche mannequin on wheels we constructed to promote the new uniform on National day. In all my travels, I have never heard any group sing “Oh Jesus I Have Promised” with more passion and joy.
Smaller compared to the other high schools, WHS has consistently demonstrated great pride and tenacity in preparing our young women to thrive in the economy of tomorrow.
Congrats to all staff, students and alumni on yet another sparkling Founder’s Day!
Thanks Mr. Samuel for the Geography, we need to remember deceased Fany Darroux this great Science teacher, what of Ms. Malaloo the Art teacher. I enjoyed this school, if I had to do it all over again I would still return to W.H.S.
God bless you
I remeber the papier mache, this big girl on wheels in the first displayed uniform. Great memories. I can visualize her on stage though its over 30 years ago
I never liked going to that school, up to this day i still wonder why my mother sent me there.
I am sure you are something today because of the school if was bad you would be on the streets. Shame on you, for even writing this – I know your learned. So get over it.
You wanted to have your own way and the school principal stopped you early. Thank the school for what you are today I know you to well you sat
two benches from me.
“D/can abroad” You know some of us have a problem. What you mean you do know why your mother aent you there. You did very well you even overseas, you need to give to get – want you do wat to give the school with what God has blessed you with. Shame read your Bible and you will see what I mean. Nover bite the hands that feed you – you suffer for that. The WHS helped even though you did not like it there. Thank God for his mercies – wicked
All of the teachers above are not past teachers i still see Miss Irish who is the Principal now, Miss Pascal, and Miss Ferdinand.

I can’t stop being excited over that school. When I see students mis carrying the uniform I get so angry. Do tou remember we had a dark yellow shirt to be won regularly and a light yellow for special ocassions. Big up to Lenor Crane, Conie Didier, Cora Richards, Elizabeth Xavier, Mary Giraudel my great leaders who were my mentors
Thanks W.H.S WE are going places
I need photos from the girls, wish to see make over faces, that would be great. I’m trying to remeber the students in the class before hurricane David. I reach up to 12 names. Good old days
Something is wrong with our people. We do not know our history, If it was politics to hurt people image and beff they would know. 1926 was flown at that time do you remember
Congratulations Wesley High School nice pictures
Zor check out Ms Irish in the second pic.
The school looks amazing now. So many memories are coming back…detention, detention, detention! Class of 2000 we were something else, we drove ms dorsette crazy! LOL. Sir Akpa now is another sorry. I apologize for my bad behavior…
Whys the British flag on it?
SMFH….because in 1926 Dominica was a colony of Britain….geez, did you read the caption? OMG….you people are embarrassing.
dear genius lol we still raised the union jack in 1929……smh
Ok thanks
Here is the reason y all books should not have pictures. Lol because people like Dominica 767 would not read at all, they would just watch the picture and call it judge…ahahah Dominican767 there is a british flag on it cause they first open it in Britian and SHIPPED the whole building to where it presently sits today.
lol
Priceless!!!!!!
