Wesley residents in US give back

Triffian Benjamin

Triffian Benjamin, an 11-year-old student from Wesley, has been named as the first recipient of a five-year scholarship from the Northeast USA Wesley Committee.

The scholarship was awarded based on academic performance, discipline and need, the committee said in a release.

Funding will include books, uniform and school tuition.

Northeast USA Wesley Committee says this is the first time it is awarding a scholarship to a student in Wesley and it hopes to extend this program by awarding a new scholarship at the onset of each academic year.

The committee is a non-profit organization based in New Jersey and was formed for the sole purpose of benefiting the village of Wesley by assisting with community development projects.

All of the committee’s members are originally from Wesley and reside in the tri-state area of the north-eastern United States.

Over the past few years the committee has undertaken/contributed to several community-based projects, including the installation and maintenance of 25 street lights throughout the village of Wesley.

I am very proud to know that Wesley individuals are doing there part to ensure that there is happiness in the community. as a villager myself i am extremely glad towards the contributions that has been made over the years by our USA committee. on terms of the scholarship thumbs up to that i think it is a positive movement and we should be thankful for what they have done. for the other people posting negative comments about what happened to the rest of Dominica? nothing is wrong with the rest of Dominica these Wesley people are just giving the youth of Wesley a chance to shine and a chance to be who they really are(wonderful individuals) to Triffy congrats sweety and take full advantage of your scholarship. i love Wesley and there is no place like home. #home sick.

Congratulations to Triffian Benjamin, stay focused and continue to make your parents and community proud.
To the Northeast USA Wesley Committee, job well done and thank you for giving back.
To the villagers of Wesley let us revert to the old saying “it takes a village to raise a child”,and each in our own small positive way contribute to the raising a generation that will restore our village to its former glory.A place that we can remain proud to call home, raising men and women of honor.

Great job Wesleyians. I’m not from Wesley but we are all Dominicans. When one good deed is done we all benefit. All for each and each for all. No complaint from me. Keep up the good work!!!

Where is Francisco Telemaque? He is always the first to jump on anything Wesley.

    His silence is deafening.

    Hahahahahahahaahah

      @Dorival John

      Heheheheheheheheheheheheheheehehe!

You took those words above from my thoughts.

But this man does not know how to praise anything or anyone, if he cannot fit a part of him into the praising expression.

There is not much for him to say here, since he would have to speak on behalf of all people from Wesley–especially Triffian Benjamin, who is the resaon for the news article– not only about himself. So that is the reason for the silence.

Is it fair to do it that way, if we all do for one community what will happen to the rest of Dominica, how can we say we are moving forward. when we only concentrate on one area when we all in the tri-state contribute by support these activities which are held within the tri-state as a Domininca living in the USA i find this move to be very selfish, Are u Dominica Yes we are Dominica not just wesley.

Yes it is fair to do it that way. If Wesley do not look out for their own then who will. Great way to give back. I think other communities are doing it as well. I would greatly encourage each community to set up such program. Great stuff!!

So Anonymous why don’t you send something for your village too. Just start it as an individual- go buy 2 backpacks with lunch sack you can buy one for $14 and some pencils, crayons(all in the dollar store) and post to the school in your village and the teachers will give to needy children, when u start others will follow. You want Wesley peeps to collect for their village and give to the entire country all u too not easy- I am sure when u support the activity they told you is to help the village of Wesley. U ‘overs’ living but you have that same stupid mentality. Stop ‘Sewooing’ in North America and help your village.
