The local branch of the Commonwealth Parliament Association will hold its annual Youth Parliament, to commemorate the observance of Commonwealth Day on March 15.
Speaker of the House of Assembly Alix Boyd Knights made the announcement at a special ceremony to officially observe Commonwealth Day on Monday.
This year’s Youth Parliament will be observed under the theme “Science, Technology and Society”.
The youth parliamentarians will be students of all secondary schools on the island, as well as the Dominica State College.
Students are expected to debate the theme “In the next 10 years society runs the risk of changing beyond recognition if pace at which Science and Technology is advancing, is left unbridled.”
Monetary and other valuable prizes will be awarded to the best debaters on their side of the house and the best role player.
The activity will take place at the House of Assembly.
