Asa collab taking Bouyon to higher heights

Dominican bouyon continues to grow its market and influence.

Bouyon phenom Asa Bantan, Trinidadian soca star Patrice Roberts and St. Lucian producer Lashley “Motto” Winter have teamed up to produce a new bouyon riddim “Simon Says”.

This joint effort comes off the heels of recent Carimas show held in Loubiere where Triple Kay, Asa and Patrice Roberts shared the stage.

Four songs have been released on this riddim. With Patrice Roberts contending for Road March in Trinidad’s Carnival and Motto providing his own fan base the collaboration is bound to bring great exposure for Asa Bantan and Dominican Bouyon.

It’s time we confront the truth..ASA is indeed the most lyrical and creative on the Bouyon scene now, but just generally speaking the Bouyon music nowadays have been degraded..most have nothing substantial to say other than “jump, wine and wave” and the youths seem to love it because they are being taught to accept mediocrity as talent. That doesn’t help the music nor the island improve its creative industry in a competitive environment..
This song is another example of creative mediocrity and that’s why they don’t last 2 seasons..

Way to GO!!! Show them how it’s done!!! Collabing with these big artist will give you exposure in the island with the greatest carnival in the world – Trinidad. This has been lacking by all Dominican artists and bands. We try nothing new; same beats and riddims with old and new songs sounding the same. Like all bands using the same drum machine. Spice it up!! CK and Asa Collab. Asa and Kassav, Caryln and Machel. Bunji and Signal.

Make the ting sound different. Bring in new instruments, mix it up with a Violin, a flute or even techno. Isn’t it supposed to be Bouyon – a blend of musical instruments. THINK OUT OF THE BOX!!!!!!

Instead we sit back and complain that our music don’t move and music life in Dominica is so hard… hmm I wonder why????
