Janea Jackson is 2012 Junior Calypso Monarch

Janea Jackson in action

13-year-old Janea Jackson of the Covent High School (CHS) is the new Junior Calypso Monarch of Dominica for 2012.

Janea, who only a week ago at the Stardom tent came first runner up to Tasha P, thrilled the many young persons at the Krazy Coconuts with her song entitled “Calypso Therapy” penned by her father, Ian Jackson.

Janea replaced Sheldon “Professor” Alfred from the St. Mary’s Academy who did not compete after winning that title for a number of years.

Coming in 1st place was 15-year-old Isaiah Thomas Secondary School (ITSS) student Nachael Walsh “De Nachael” with her song “What We Gonna Do” written by Tim Durand.

In 2nd place was 13-year-old St. Mary’s Academy (SMA) student Phael  “Mighty P” Lander with “Save Dominica for the Next Generation” penned by Norman “Ency” Cyrille, while 14-year-old NECS student Chelsea “Princess Chels” Prince with “Unsung Heroes” penned by Wengert Williams.

The competition was held on Thursday evening.

Congratulate her but allow her to grow up in in the way her Maker meant it to be. Junior Monarchy is the 1st stage. Now that she is Junior Monarch, she can aim for the bigger crown next year.

I was at the show last year, she went off key couple of times plus her clarity was poor…..long after the show I figured out what she was saying. This year I saw a significant improvement. Congrats to you. Looking forward to seeing you in the future

hmmmmmm. every body forget princess chels……well, this year, the crown was given to the right person. but, i think nacheal shouldnt have gotten first place. chelsea song was excellent. she spoke about unrecognized ppl of this country, like dice……..the only problem was the band. i could hear her swallowing up her words, trying to meet up with the band. awa wi. third place not good enough for her
