Aniska Tonge, the daughter of Marigot natives Frankie Jefferson Tonge and Venessa Yvonne Rolle, has been crowned Miss Virgin Islands 2012.
The pageant took place at the Ritz Carlton Hotel on Sunday afternoon.
She competed on the platform ‘Building Self-Esteem in Young Women through Education and Pageantry’.
Winning the crown paves the way for her to represent the Virgin Islands in the Miss America Pageant in Las Vegas in January 2013.
21-year-old Tonge graduated from the University of North Florida with a Bachelors Degree in Psychology and plans to attend Barry University in Miami for graduate studies. She will pursue a Masters Degree in Psychology with a concentration in Mass Communication because she wants her platform to be her ‘job’.
She said it is her intention to continue to reach out to young women and encourage them to always pursue their dreams in a big way.
She believes that success can only be achieved through hard work, determination and a strong belief in one’s ability.

a whole lot of miss this and miss that.how much does it benefit dominica?
She has a winning smile! Is she not attractive? Fellow Dominicans, are you aware that it has been stated Dominica has the most beautiful girls/women? Reason to smile/laugh. I have heard it ever since I resided in DA.
Congratulations, Aniska! You have reasons to smile. Your smile is captivating. You have also made your parents, other family members, friends and other Dominicans in general proud. Good luck in future pageants.
Congratulations Aniska! You have done well and will continue to do well. Keep your head up and remain focus. We will be with you in Las Vegas as you represent not only the VIrgin Islands but Dominica!

Congratulations! As a Barry University Alumni I welcome you. Great University.
Congrats Dominicans doing great all over Big up Every Body for making a difference and putting Dominica on the map.Positive vibes all the time.
but she NOT dominican
Her mum and dad is so she can claim the Dominican status!!!
What difference does it make? I am sure she is moredominican than you. Both of her parents are born and bred dominicans. What more does she need to be a Dominican? Ignorant!
how is she putting Dominica on the map when she’s representing Ms. VI???
Does Dominica participate in Miss America pageant? She lives in the VI so, she needs to represent there at the pageant. Stop being ignorant people. The child could really careless about you all negative comments. She is proud of her heritage and that is a.l that matters. Dominicans need to claim their own and be proud to do so!
