DFC focuses on safety with key stakeholders on staging of 15th annual WCMF

Roseau, Dominica:—–  The Dominica Festivals Committee, the producer of Dominica’s World Creole Music Festival now in its 15th year focus on safety for the annual event with various key stakeholders.

Occupational Health and Safety Specialist Mr. Marcus Francis was invited by DFC Event’s Director Mrs. Natalie Clarke Meade to partner with the Dominica Festival’s Committee to help manage the risk associated with an event of this magnitude. The key stake holders are the DFC CORE Management Team, the Police and Private Security Services, Venue Location site managers, Stadium Technical, Management, Health and EMS, Transportation, Waste Management, IT, Stage, Light and Sound Managers.

“My hope is that once all functional area managers and key stake holders buy into how important the safety aspect of each area is to the benefit of our handling of the event, and more importantly to the spectator experience, we begin to build a safety network more difficult to penetrate “, says Clarke-Meade.

According to Mr. Francis, Events Management has evolved internationally whereby standards and guidelines have been developed to ensure the health and safety of patrons and workers alike. The Dominica’s World Creole Music Festival is an international event and as a consequence these standards are necessary.

This is in keeping with the Event Director’s expectations for the three nights of pulsating rhythms in its fifteenth year as she seeks to bring together all functional area managers under the one vision.

“In light of our island being the host to people of all walks of life and cultures in the month of October, we must begin to create a space where everyone feels DFC has taken all the necessary precautions we possibly could within our island framework to allow patrons to enjoy their three nights of pulsating rhythms. ”, says Clarke Meade
