DSC holds successful “Dress to Impress” fashion show

On April 11th 2019, the Dominica State College successfully staged its first ever professional wear fashion show which was dubbed “Dress to Impress.”

The show was well received by the student body and staff. The models showcased outfits in segments such as “From day to night” which featured work attire which can be used to transition to a night out, “Casual Fridays” which featured outfits which can be worn to work on a typical dress-down day like Friday and “Office chic” which featured classic corporate wear.

A total of 12 models hit the runway during the fashion show.

The outfits were sponsored by Ramon’s Clothing Store located at #9 Cork Street and Faithful Hands Clothing Store located at 48 Independence Street. Music was provided by DJ Remzz.

The Student Affairs department of the DSC hopes to continue to engage students in activities geared toward their professional and personal development.

The show was organized by Miss Ellena Bowers, Career Development Coordinator within the department.

Some more pictures of the event can be seen below.

    The intent here is positive!

Of course there will always be empty barrels making noise. That we have no control over – so keep pushing ahead and encourage such positive vibes.

“They look good but some of the skirts to tight and clinging especially the yellow/blue. ”

Are you crazy, skirts are too tight?

Where are you from, why are you so old fashion?

These women are packing some heavy style, they are looking good, I like them all even the one with the out stretched right arm, and left leg.

I guess she was just a little bit nervous, and over anxious too!

Your right arm, and left foot are too far out, we don’t see that in modeling, you appear as if you are doing brisks walking exercise.

And don’t ask me what do I know about modeling; because I have a granddaughter in the modeling and acting business, the last movie she played in was Straight out of Compton!

She graduated USC and has her teaching credentials.

I will not say what part she played, since I am not comfortable with it!

If there were a competition for missing the point of this story, you’d definitely win first prize.

You want to know what I am doing for myself?
I am a retired electronic/electrical engineer who is financially rich, who wants nothing more in this life.

Now what are you doing for yourself?

My granddaughter does commercials, she sells underwear, one commercial pays her enough where she she does not have to work in hurry.

Check out Malabo Outside Los Angeles, its one of the most expensive residential communities in the world she lives.

Mind your business, again jealously fades me not!

Let me rock your world, whereas she has teaching credentials, I have other granddaughters in the legal field, one grandson is Rapper, you can hear his music on YouTube.

You all always pick on people who are much better off than you are; shut up, and worry about you.

Life atrocities has no effect on me!

The reason I know everything is because of my grandmother who emphasized academic education; when some of you were hooked on drugs and  alcohol, I was in college!

You have totally missed the point of this article.
      1. These are not professional models
      2. These are students who volunteered to model professional attire
      3. They are not applying for any modelling position
      4. This was also supposed to be a fun activity for students to have some fun while showing off professional attire.

Don’t go making it into something that it wasn’t and misunderstanding the whole activity. Therefore you mentioning your granddaughter is irrelevant.

This was a positive activity for students let’s leave it at dat.

    Sttttteeeeuuuuppppppppsssssssss!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When will the Dominica State College (in conjunction the government of Dominica and other interested parties) stop meddling in rank foolishness but rather start investing more time, effort, personnel and finance in more significant ventures such as a DSC-based Research & Development center?

Leave dem kind of infantile “Dress to Impress” events for kindergarten or primary school students.

“Dress to impress” but some of dem heads empty like what and maybe cannot spell “Moose”. Phew!!!

Sad that some of us have one track minds. While research is important, is a college not also responsible for helping to shape its young people in other aspects as well? If what was done is good then support it, and there was certainly nothing wrong with this event.

Why don’t you come in and contribute to this time, effort, personnel and finance investment? A statement like this can’t be made if you plan on sitting on the outside looking in.
      1. If you invest, the DSC may be able to build a research and development center.
      2. One must realise the focus of the DSC is to balance education with social skills, development and fun, hence, the fashion show. They are going into the world of work and therefore would need to know how to dress. I would think this would fall under the category of personnel and development. Wouldn’t it?
      3. And apparently you don’t have television to note that events like this are worldwide, and the clothes you’re probably wearing was probably showcased at some fashion show, so it’s not only for children. That was downright ignorant.
      4. I would think you would want to encourage them instead of labelling them as empty heads, when these are the same ones who have to go out there and lead a country in the future…

They look good but some of the skirts to tight and clinging especially the yellow/blue. When she sits has to cross her legs constantly which is not always healthy for circulation. Give the dresses a little more space so one can at least breathe.
