First runner-up of the 2011 Miss Dominica Pageant, Earlene Labassiere will make an attempt to secure the Miss Humanity International title in Barbados next month.
The pageant’s sole objective is to promote and raise awareness about humanitarian causes worldwide.
Contestants support charities that work to advocate against causes including child labour domestic abuse and poverty.
Therefore, Earlene has adopted the Operation Youth Quake as her charity.
The Operation Youth Quake, based at Savanne Park, has been in operation for over thirty-one years, providing much needed services to children at risk.
The October 13th to 23rd pageant will feature 31 young women across the world, competing in swimsuit, talent, national costume, evening wear and question and answer segments.
There is also a voting aspect to the pageant, where the contestant with the most votes wins the People’s Choice Award. Fans can visit www.misshumanityinternational.com click Dominica among the list of delegates to the right of the screen and vote for Earlene by clicking 10 stars.
Charlene White-Christian is the national director for the Miss Humanity International Pageant.
Pretty Girl.
MODESTY + MEEKNESS = MISS HUMANITY
good luck LOL
i am already feeling the waves of victory this is our first time in this pageant and i have no doubt that the crown is coming home
it would also be nice if the nation could view this pageant
I am very pleased with the contributions on DNO both negative and positive but I need to clarify a few things here.
1. I PURCHASED the franchise for this pageant in June 2011 and as franchise holder I choose the contestant to represent Dominica every year with effect from this year. This pageant has nothing to do with DFC or the queen show committee. And I am sure you will agree with me that in such a situation as chaperone for Earlene during the queen show pageant it is obvious I would choose her as the first to represent.
2. Earlene has been officially registerd for the pageant since June and for those of you who are always on facebook you will see that her photo has been up since then so it is not a now for now decision to participate in the pageant.
3. You have to agree with me that when you dress and are made up for a photo shoot you will look much different than if you are made up to go about daily duties. The make up cannot be the same.
4.This is the First time Dominica is participating a such a pageant with this type of focus and as such we must continue to support humanitarian causes because too many times the negative aspects of our society are kept in the closet. And if everyone remembers, Earlene did not just wake up and decide to focus on children. If you remember carefully her platform for queen show was the same as it is now, child safety and abuse prevention. It has never changed and I am very happy that she continued to focus on it even though she did not obtain the title of Miss Dominica.
I hope this clarifies a few concerns that some of you may have about Dominica’s participation in the pageant.
Anyways madame, i find you come out. You mean to tell me you chose someone to represent the country (our country) because she is your family? Smh
big you too stupid. pageantry have nothing to do with that I agree with charlene because we in Dominica too like to think that if you do not represent you country for queen show you cannot represent in other pageants. I know earlene is not charlene family she is her god child and I think that she choose well. Is her money she spent to buy her franchise. And further more I am happy earlene is going because too many times we too like to focus on queen queen and it have other talented people that can represent too. good luck earlene and job well done charlene.
That sure is some flawless skin there boy. It is not the same as the true picture of the 26th september, where she address the students from sma. Hate to say, I was taken back when i compared the two pictures..
NATASHA;
Sorry that you are offended with the freedom TO DISAGREE.
We were offended by lack of standards of fairness and insensitivity. While we focus on
the Queen business, we are sure that you will agree that our culture of fair play here is generally, truly lacking.
You know what?… we are not lovers of pageant where our sisters and daughters choose to accept their womanhood in the eyes of the publice by the sexxiness.
For some of us, sexiness is beautiful but intimate. We must enjoy this freedom within virtuous boundaries.
Still we have no problem when sisters choose that way because at the same time talents and intellect are displayed.
Unfortunately, these two last categories must be urgently improved so that we can truly showcase the strong and liberated woman even if she wont choose private modesty.
It takes a village and in the authentic African setting, gentle but firm admonishment is what keeps us inline.
BE A BIT MORE SENSITIVE TO THE QUEEN WHO REIGNS FOR THE YEAR AND WHEN DECISIONS ARE MADE WITHIN HER JURISDICTION, WHERE IT IS NOT POSSIBLE FOR HER TO PLAY HER ROLE, SHE MUST GIVE HER CONSENT
Nut don’t be a coward, show youR real name and stop hiding behind “target”. Secondly what earlene is doing has NOTHING to do with miss dominica. Be sensitive to the queen who reigns? did i say something to offend the miss dominica in question? I’m i not entitled to show my support to whom i favor? i beg to differ… The message my post was trying to relay is stop bashing earlene, she is doing something the majority of us don’t have one once of balls to do, yet still we come there and talk trash. What is there to disagree? The young lady is doing what she does best, fighting for a cause and you guys main focus is about who should have represented? are you kidding me? I tell ya that’s why the country remains stagnant bec we focus on the wrong dang things. sooo u know what fallllll back and do some research as to when, and why she decided to take park.. smdh
Hi earlene,
I don’t know you personally but i listened to the queen show via the internet and have been one of your biggest fans. I just wanted to wish you best of luck on the miss humanity pageant. Dont’ pay any attention to the negative feedback you are getting on DNO or any of the social networks because nay-sayers have nothing better to do with their time. Most of them are unemployed uneducated has-bins who are just looking for their 5 minutes of fame. We know that you will do well and you have my 100 percent support. Dominicans living in dominica and abroad need to grow up. You’d think that because they are exposed to so much they they would change and grow up but put a pig in a palace it still remains a pig.. Again all the best to you and stay positive..

She has entered this competition on here own. It had nothing to do with Carnival committee.
She see that that Ruth is doing her things so she wants to be on the spotlight too.
Where’s Ms Massacre and Ms Dominica?
Excuse me?
i was wondering the same thing to,they could at least be more informitive.
Miss labassiere I wish you all the best in this venture. Just go out there and do your best and I am happy to see that you chose the operation youth quake. I know you personally and know that you have a deep love for children and the elderly. I voted for you today and will vote everyday because I want to see you succeed at this pageant. Your sponsor malcolm Stephen and Sons must be very proud. GOOD LUCK AND GOD BLESS YOU
Good luck and congratulation wish you well its time we take pageantry to a next level Dominica need to be seen in the outside world .
Good Luck!!
This is a very good attempt at showcasing Ms Labassiere’s platform that she had for queen show. If I remember correctly, she used child safety and abuse prevention for her queen show platform and I am happy to see that she is continuing the cause. I am also happy that she adopted the operation Youth Quake as her charity and hope that Dominicans all around the world support her in this international pageant. I myself am excited because it’s been about 8 years since Dominica took part in an international pageant and she will be the 5th Dominican to represent Dominica at an International pageant.( We had Magret Rose Cools Latigue, Shannon Vigilant, Samantha Doctrove and Joanne Jno Baptiste)Now we have Labassiere. This ie very good for Dominica. I hope she promotes Dominica alot at this pageant.
I have voted for her on the site and encourage all Dominicans to vote for her everyday because Dominica has to show that we can do it on the bigger stages too.
Good luck Miss Labassiere, all I want as a patriotic Dominican is that you go to the show and do your best and make us proud.
I support any cause related to children. I must admit that I have not heard of Operation Youth Quake.
Good luck for this pageant and the future.
